That would make me cry.

Yeah, luckily I have the Ultimate Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th Part 2 which comes with a similar knife. I’m using that for now as it isn’t really a weapon I’d have Jason use.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

^ The recent NECA stuff looks good, but it's clear they use inferior materials. I own dozens of their figures and at least 30% of them had breakage or some other defect (paint errors, loose joints) right out of the box. I couldn't be more careful while handling them, but some things are unavoidable when corners are cut at the factory level. These are toys, not Fabergé eggs. You should be able to pose and handle them without fear of damage.

If you use Twitter, try messaging @NECA_CS. The blade snapping off at the handle seems to be a common problem with that Halloween knife accessory. They might be able to send you a replacement free of charge. You can also try using the contact form on their website. Just go to the FAQ and click "Need Customer Service?" I can't guarantee they'll respond there, though. I've had about a 50/50 success rate getting replacement parts sent out. Sometimes they make it easy. Other times they just say "Sorry, nothing we can do." or don't reply at all.

To be fair when I couldn’t get it I probably should have applied some heat. I had it in his hand and it was in weird so it tried rotating it but didn’t realize I was twisting the blade and not the handle. I hear about people having issues with NECA stuff breaking but this is actually my first break. I’m glad it wasn’t like an arm or leg.

Then consider yourself lucky. Just for fun, here are a couple of my favorite NECA fails from YouTube. I fully share the reviewer's frustration:

Never thought I'd see the day but somehow McFarlane toys got the DC license for action figures:

McFarlane stuff is pretty spotty quality-wise now days though. Could be interesting to see what they do with the license though.

Mattel fucked up the deal somehow and lost the licensing to DC. I imagine that the shoddy paint job and brittle figures by Mattel is what killed the deal. From 2020 on, DC will have McFarlane tackle the collectors market while Spin Masters will do the retail market side. Risky deal though since Spin Masters never had an action figure line like this before and McFarlane, although good, have always had delays in production.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

Spin Masters is a really weird choice for DC. They’re pretty much known for like little kid stuff primarily. Not sure what they’ll bring to the DC lineup of figures, but maybe they’ll do something interesting. McFarlane often gets hurt by poor paint apps and weird articulation points. Some of their stuff is good some is crap. Generally speaking for a higher end DC action figure (not collectible like Hot Toys or Sideshow) I’d be more inclined to buy DC Collectibles figures.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

Ouch, Spinmasters? I guess it can't be worse than lower end Mattel, but I guess I can go back to ignoring DC figures for a while. Are McFarlane going to do actual action figures or mainly statues?

DC Collectibles ticked me off when they changed scale (to something that didn't fit with anything else) then changed scale again. Screw them.

I actually saw a pretty cool looking movie Shazam Multiverse figure last night at Walmart. Almost grabbed it but didn’t yet.

I collect Vader but that's too rich for my blood. Looks amazing though.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

Hasbro just hasn’t proven to me that they’ll produce a single figure that’s worth that amount of money. I’m sure they’re trying to compete with Mezco’s One: 12 Collective line, but frankly they’re lower end products like the Black Series lineup isn’t even that great for the most part. I’m not going to be a guinea pig for this line. I also very well could see it being something that flops and ends up with only a few figures released.

The other thing is, if you miss it what, they're not going to release another Vader down the line?

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

While they obviously cost more I’m not much into getting retail type or smaller scale figures anyways. My exceptions are some NECA and DC Collectibles items. My next Vader will be whenever Hot Toys announces their 1/6th Return of the Jedi version. I skipped the one from The Empire Strikes Back as I have the one from A New Hope. I don’t feel like I need all three versions.

Not sure if posted yet but this is coming from Neca. Who wouldn't want a Bob Ross action figure?

Why is that easel so damn tall? And the paint palette is almost as big as Bob!
