The reason I got out of the 6 inch lines is the price. 20 to 25 bucks is way too much considering how much they went for just a few years ago. I don't mind spending a bit more than that for a smaller number of better-crafted figures, though, so maybe I'm just crazy. Well, I still collect Marvel Legends but I can't even find half the figures anyway so that might come to a stop soon too.

I almost bought that TFA two pack mainly because I hadn't seen anything in so long, but put it back because it was like 45 bucks. I was tempted by the tie fighter tool but where would it go?

Picked up my first Pop last night. Mainly got it for how weird and cool it is. Plus I like the film quite a bit too.

Also my local shop had the Batmobile from Batman: The Animated Series and I couldn't resist it.

I guess Sideshow isn't afraid to go head to head against Hot Toys in the Star Wars arena?

Just got a notice that they solicited an ESB 1/6 Boba Fett. Of course, the Hot Toys one is RotJ, but I'm not sure I even know the difference.

The difference is HT > SS.

The Sideshow Boba Fett was released a couple years ago already. The Hot Toys one isn't out yet. I agree that in general Hot Toys is better than Sideshow.

The Sideshow Fett is scheduled for January (at least on BBTS), but maybe it's just a re-release.

I know Hot Toys > SS for the most part, I just didn't know how Boba changed from ESB to RotJ.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

The changes are mostly in the colors of the armor. The version from Return of the Jedi has more colors in it and also the cape is green whereas in The Empire Strikes Back the cape is more of a brown color and the armor is comprised of mostly green. Also the weathering is different.

I couldn't find the BBTS listing unless I missed it.

I will take a picture and post it here when I win that life-size $8K Boba Fett from them.

From the sideshowcollectors board, seems like it's a re-release with some slight alterations and with a few less accessories, but with a bigger pricetag. I'll stick with my Hot Toys preorder.

Got an email for "Alien Girl" from sideshow. Wow, I didn't know that was a thing. The artistry is great but it's fan service. obviously.

Yeah, I thought that was odd. Seems more in line a Japanese company like Kotobukiya would do with their bishoujo line.

Yeah the re-release is kind of a joke. I'm just going to get the Hot Toys figure as I know it'll be better than anything Sideshow offers. The fact that they're re-releasing an old figure that comes with less than the initial release and is $25 more is dumb if you ask me. Also they took away one of the coolest parts of the original figure. The first release had an awesome light up Bespin style base and this just comes with a standard black stand with a flight pole.

Agree with the Alien Girl being an oddity too. I like some of the Bishoujo stuff that Kotobukiya does but this one just feels a bit too random and if I was going to get a Bishoujo type statue I'd rather get something a bit more normal rather than a chick meshed with Xenomorph parts. I'm sure there's a market for it though and I believe there was a Predator Girl available previously.

Yet another new Trooper from The Force Awakens. The First Order Storm Trooper Officer (with the pauldron). It looks as though it'll be available individually and as part of a set with a normal First Order Storm Trooper.

(image is in spoilers as its over-sized)

I felt a great disturbance in the Force... as if thousands of Hot Toys collectors suddenly cried out in terror.

 Damn. It looks like the boots came off clean as you can see where they should peg in on the bottom of the legs so I wonder if it actually broke or not.

Good luck with Jango. A bunch of people on the Sideshow Collectors forum have said its plagued with issues. Apparently some of the pieces of armor come off easily.

A couple of new reveals from Hot Toys tonight. A repaint and a variant but still new reveals none the less.

Continuing with the House Party Protocol armors from Iron Man 3 is the Mark XXVI Gamma suit.

And from The Force Awakens we have a First Order Storm Trooper (Jakku Exclusive) which really just appears to be the Heavy Gunner Trooper with a sand base and an extra accessory of some sort.

I might get Gamma.

They could've easily released some sort of deluxe Stormtrooper with various accessories, but it looks like they are going to milk it dry.

Did they really design all these suits for IM3, because the last few Hot Toys reveals of Iron Man armor, I don't even remember at all.

I think there was an artbook or something that showed the designs of all the armors.

Yup.

Ordered Gamma. They can keep that Stormtrooper.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

So Sideshow is doing another re-release of one of their 1/6th Star Wars figures. They're releasing the Imperial Probe Droid again next year estimated to arrive between March and June. Kind of odd that they're starting to do this more suddenly but in this case I think I'll actually buy the figure as the Probe Droid is one I regretted not buying. It doesn't have the snow base like the original release had so they're cutting another piece from the re-release like they did with the Boba Fett but not a huge deal I guess.
