Hmm, I was kinda set on the other kind of look but I may watch out for that one.

Thanks

As far as them raising the price of Hot Toys figures some of that is just so they profit but their markups do seem high at times.

Their biggest problem just as their expensive statues is the shitty paint jobs. Some have great sculpts, but the awful paint and paint job kill it.

After that, the bodies of the 1/6 line are absolute garbage. Fall apart in your hand, or the crumble apart on your shelf. Dollar store feel.

It amazes me how some HT can be photographed and it looks like a real person, then SS looks like a very very expensive piece of shit that looks like Mattel put out.

So this is a thing.. Hot Toys revealed a teaser on their Facebook page last night that they'll be producing the Millennium Falcon Cockpit in 1/6th form. Honestly it sounds awesome in some respects but I probably will have to pass on it. It'll likely take up way too much space and will be expensive. Regardless though the fact that they're making it is damn cool and I'm curious to see it.

Also teased last night, yet another House Party Protocol armor from Iron Man 3. This time its the Mark XL Shotgun, which I'm actually interested in as I like the design.

(image spoilerized due to size)

I'm guessing with Comic Con we'll see full reveals of both of these plus a bunch more new figures over the rest of the week.

I've been collecting the Marvel Select figures from the cinematic universe for the last couple of years. So far, I have one version of every character they've produced, apart from Loki. Hopefully they'll revisit that character for Thor 3, since the quality of these has gotten much better since that figure was released.

Anyway, here's the latest addition: The Disney Store exclusive Ant-Man figure.

http://i1146.photobucket.com/albums/...psbbwsryrb.jpg

For what you get, it's just not worth the $25 price tag. All my other Select figures have come with detailed bases and/or accessories. The Iron Man and War Machine figures came with display chambers, Cap and Red Skull came with linking bases with the Tesseract in the middle... it all created a nice little environment. With Scott Lang, you get two extra sets of hands and a one-inch Ant Man as a bonus. Pretty underwhelming considering what Diamond Select have given us in the past.

The Paul Rudd head is what makes it an exclusive. If you buy it from your local comic shop, it'll only have the helmet -- making it an even worse deal. The sculpt itself looks great (likely from a scan of the actor's face), but the paint aps really hurt it. It appears they did some airbrush shading to give the effect of stubble, but it just makes the figure look cheap. I guess I was fortunate, since some of the ones that have popped up on eBay look like only half the jawline was shaded in.

I'm curious, what do you like about the Marvel Select figures as opposed to Marvel Legends (which is also doing an Ant Man)? I've been tempted by the larger Select figures, but the one time I bought one at the Disney store (Agent Venom) I was pretty disappointed with the articulation.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

Initially, it was the diorama bases that made me start collecting them. It just made for a more interesting display. This is really the only line I collect, so I don't mind them being a larger scale than most comic book figures on the market. I actually prefer this size.

I know poseability has been a problem with some of the Select releases, but I've had no issues with any of the movie based figures (which have all been sculpted by Gentle Giant). I count at least 16 points of articulation on Ant-Man.

Have a friend at SDCC that will try to get me Bloody Bruce with Quint.

Notice that Quint has the machete in the wrong hand.

Would be harder to see it in the package if it was in his left hand.

Hot Toys quasi 1/6 scale TIE Fighter.
Kind of doubtful it will actually get produced. But if it does, this will almost certainly be the thing to break my "no Star Wars collectibles" vow.

I would buy this in a heartbeat.

Chewie looks weird. Can't tell by the angle by Han may be off too.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

The Han isn't spot on I wouldn't say but I think he looks pretty good. Chewie I think looks good for being a figure with real hair rather than sculpted. I think he's going to be one you'll have to kind of need to work with once you get it though so it looks right. I also think in that picture the headset is making his head overall look weird. Almost everything put out by Hot Toys isn't done justice by pictires either and they almost always are more impressive in hand.

This is a better picture of the Hot Toys Han. (Spoilerized for size)

Here's a better picture of Chewie too.

Always thought the actual control sticks on the Falcon looked stupid. No way am I going to get Han/Chewie or the Falcon cockpit but I'd hope it has a glass cover to it and it isn't just left open like a convertible.

I really like that Han sculpt.

What's the price tag?

It does, if you check their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/hottoys) they posted pics of the cockpit (and there is a top to it) as well as a variety of Marvel figs and other properties.

Han is $230 plus $10 shipping. You can knock it down $20 if you use one of Sideshow's coupons. He's also in a two pack with Chewie which is $480.

Fuck that. I'd expect a closer likeness than that for the price.

Some of their sculpts are better than others. Their Han now is better than it started. Plus Ford is known as being hard to sculpt. I'm satisfied with how he looks.

Not exactly movie related, but too damn cool not to share.
Sculpted by the same guy that did the Scar Jo Black Widow I posted several pages back did this.

I also see a lot of Michelle Monaghan in the face. Wouldn't be surprised if that's who he used for facial ref.

I'm not that into statues but this might be a good alternative if Hot Toys doesn't do Catwoman or Penguin. They still might but they've really been dragging their feet on the line.
