Most Marvel characters I only buy one version of and my collection is fairly diversified and not mostly made up of Marvel figures. This would only be my second armor (not counting the Iron Patriot and the Iron Whiplash I have on order).

I didn't do it. It went to waitlist anyways before I almost went for it. Honestly I think I'm going to go for the diecast Mark III instead. Might get the XLIII eventually too.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

Received my Chewbacca 6 inch Black Series figure today. He looks a lot better than the pics online. So far I have been pleased with each figure I have purchased and now I am trying to track down the R2D2 release but so far the cheapest I can find is on ebay for around $65 plus shipping cost.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see that particular Artoo re-released this fall with the Force Awakens 6" assortment.

I would check Amazon marketplace I picked up R2 for about $30 in late November.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

For around the same amount of money as the Hasbro Black Series 6" R2-D2 is going for, you could get the Revoltech R2-D2 which is just now coming out. The Revoltech doesn't have all the doo-dads of the Hasbro, but it's bigger, and more in-scale with the other 6" figures from Hasbro.

Comparison pics:

Spoiler:

The Revoltech is around $50 right now on Amazon and BBTS.

Late to the party but I will really say that I hate the NRD that Sideshow is inserting. It makes me really have no desire to preorder anything and just wait for release.

It is irritating. Like I said from now on I'll only pre-order Hot Toys figures. Sideshow figures are way too much of a mixed bag to gamble on. I'm not sure what the exact amount is that they charge you a nonrefundable deposit, someone on the Sideshow Collectors forum said over $224.

The Star Wars Black series is pretty hit or miss. Some look great like the lizard guy bounty hunter and some look like poop Slave Leia. It looks like they model the face after a blowup doll.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

That Revoltech R2 paint app looks pretty bad compared to the Hasbro. Maybe it's just the picture.
Hasbro has really only screwed the pooch on a few of characters. Slave Leia (horrible face sculpt). Wave 2 Han (long neck). Yoda (limited articulation and ugly paint)
I think the best all around are probably Greedo and Darth Maul. I haven't seen Bossk in person yet but from what I have seen, he looks pretty good all around.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

I agree on the Slave Leia and Yoda looking bad. Luckily I am only getting the figures that I want to display those two weren't on the list. Just glad I am not completeist. I have the hot Toys Robocop on flex pay and will be getting the Hot Toys Darth Vader since I sent my Sideshow version back because of all the problems with the helmet and legs.

Wait listed on the IM Stealth Suit. Guess I waited a day too long to pull the trigger...

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

At 1/4th scale its a no go for me but it does look impressive. Also in related news to the Mark XLIII the first in-hand pictures of the 1/6th scale figure were posted by one of the overseas bloggers (Jingobell) last night. Looks pretty damn good to me and I might consider ordering it at some point. Either that or I'll go for the Mark XLV.

I finally put in my order for the Hot Toys Darth Vader. I normally don't like paying the nonrefundable deposit but I know I'll be keeping it. Plus I used the $20 off coupon for March to knock it down a bit.

What coupon was that? I don't remember getting one of those in my email.

LUCKYMARCH. The coupon code emails are hit and miss and the best way to keep up with them is to join the Sideshow Collectors forum and watch the deals thread. I checked and it looks like the March coupon is still active if you want to use it.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

Sideshow being in CA just ruins any coupon for me.

The figuarts is the first time I've seen the mark 45 but at least that's different enough to make me want the 1/6 version. They still haven't even hinted at a 1/6 fett after soliciting the 1/4, right?

^ No word on a 1/6th Bob a Fett yet. I'm sure it's coming eventually, we have to wait probably a month or so for Hot Toys to reveal something not related to Age of Ultron most likely.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

I don't have many Marvel Legends but I do like some of them. I just recently bought the Scarlet Witch which is a really nice figure. I'd like to pick up the new wave of figures from Batman: The Animated Series from DC Collectibles soon too. The most recent wave had The Joker, Man-Bat, and Robin.

Re: 1 and Only Movie Figures and Collectibles Discussion

I would love to afford Hot Toys and Sideshow, but there is just no way with my income.
I do however hoard Legends and the Star Wars 6"
