I love that NECA has got some sweet movie licenses but their stuff doesn't even come close to touching McFarlane. It's a shame too, I'd be all over a McFarlane Patrick Bateman. That Napolean Dynamite stuff that McFarlane did is amazing.

I just bought the Freddy vs Jason boxed set. Only $15 because the box is damaged. I'm going to open these anyway. They seem to sell these cheaper if the packaging is damaged.

Did Mcfarlane lose all the rights to all the monster flicks to NECA?

The only monster related stuff coming out are new 12" Grid Alien, a 12" Scar Predator, and 12" Stealth Scar Predator. But, there is a "Bram Stoker's Dracula" boxed set coming out.

Yeah, I'd say Neca's main weakness is human likenesses. They're not bad, but not as good as they could be. I will say McFarlane is hit or miss here, too, though. The Napoleon Dynamite stuff is spot on, but stuff like TCM's Erin (from the last Movie Maniacs line) is way off, even if the detail is there.

My biggest gripe about McFarlane's newer stuff is that it is sometimes 'overposed'. Certain figures are in weird poses, or poses that only work in they are on their specific base. I know they are going for a semi-statue look, but I generally prefer 'iconic' poses than 'action' poses.

I think most of these licenses are limited-time ventures and McFarlane lost the rights long ago. They can make specific figures in that time-window, but it expires after awhile. And sometimes I think they are even for specific items. For example, McFarlane had a 7" Robocop last year, and a 12" one this past year. Meanwhile, Neca released an 18" Robocop around the same time as McFarlane's 12 incher. So the two competing comapnies were releasing Robocops in the same time frame.

As for new stuff, it seems like McFarlane is moving away from the Movie Maniacs-type stuff. They don't even seem to be competing for any of the new or unused licenses anymore, and they're all going to Neca and SOTA.

Any good suggestions for sites to pre-order/purchase the NECA McClane, Hulk, etc.? After a quick seach I came across a store called CornerStoreComics. They had the NECA McClane available for pre-order for a reasonable price. Has anyone ordered from them before or have any other good figure sites??

Amazon.com sells figures for Toys R Us. They carry quite a bit.

http://www.monstersinmotion.com/catalog/

Haven't ordered from that one, but the site is loaded with stuff.

I have ordered from Amazon before and was quite disappointed on the way they packaged their products. I ordered some Star Wars Unleashed figures and they folded the tops of the figure cases in order to fit in a smaller box. I usually display my figures in the cases but these we so badly damaged I ended up opening them. I don't think I will be ordering from Amazon anytime soon.

Thanks for the store link though, I will certainly check it out...

I didn't know that there was a figure and collectibles thread!

McFarlane announced that they will produce figures for Hanna-Barbera characters.

Jigsaw and Puppet from SAW
one more TBA

no pics yet, but I like the ones mentioned.

The Saw announcement surprised me, because the Puppet was already announced as being part of SOTA's upcoming "Now Playing" lineup (which is a competitor to Cult Classics).

Excited that someone finally got Lector. Neca is also going to do a 18" version of Hannibal, which is totally mine.

I was at Wonder Con and snapped some pics of this Dropship. They wanted 150 for the ship and 50 for the APC. Decided against it because my girlfriend is bringing one back for me from Japan. Paid 150 with the APC included.

The ramp comes down and it holds the APC! Also the wings unfold just like in the movie. Can't wait to get this!

I just picked up Neca's John McClane and T2 endoskeleton

I'm still considering whether I should get the 18" Jason Voorhees or not.

I'm all over NECA's
Hannibal Lector and medieval Ash
