'Bubble' - Steve Soderbergh's new movie (part of HDNet's 6 movie deal) - Jan. 27th

It will be released on dvd, in theatres and on HDNet (cable tv) on January 27th.
This is a first out of a 6 movie deal HDNet made with Soderbergh.
Hopefully it will be better than Oceans 12.

I've got to say that I'm definitely curious about this. I'll more than likely give it a rent to check it out.

I saw this at the NY Film Festival in October. In general, it did not receive good reviews, but I actually found it quite fascinating. It's an ultra-low budget effort, with a non-professional cast. It's interesting to see a director who has had big-budget hits return to a guerilla-style indie production.

I figure there's a chance Cuban will be handing out DVD copies of the movie at Mavericks games, so I might pick it up then.
I am interested to see what Soderbergh came up with. He doesn't always hit the mark, but he's willing to take chances and experiment, and I respect and support that about him.

I saw this at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Like marty888 said, it's ULTRA low budget, but shot on HD Video. It was projected HD and looked beautiful. I can't even begin to describe it. As for the movie itself... it was good, but definitely not for everyone. You'd be more inclined to like it if you're a Schizopolis fan as opposed to an Ocean's fan, but even then, it's still not what you'd expect. Definitely rent before buying.

I pretty much love all of Soderbergh's pre-Ocean's 11 movies so I'm definitely checking this out. Especially since I already have HDNet. They show trailers for 2 of his movies all the time on there.

Ebert and Roeper gave this "two thumbs WAY up", and both described it as a "masterpiece"! I'm not sure I'd go that far, but hopefully reviews like this will encourage more people to see it.

From what I understand this film was done right around where I was born in West Virginia and where most of my family lives. I don't know if Soderbergh exactly paints a good portrait of this since I haven't read much about the film for some reason but it is definately enough based on the WV connection for me to give it a buy.

Soderberg is really hit and miss for me (although I'm sure his overall body of work is great). But I'm going to give this a try as it is always nice to see a new approach to something.

this is sounding like something that's right up my alley -- largely improvisational, first-time non-actors, minimalist camera work. looking forward to it.

Just as a reminder, this is up tonight. I saw it in the HDNet Movies channel lineup. I'm interested to see this, some of the reviews I've read are positive.
Rotten Tomatoes has it listed as 68% fresh.

Interesting movie. I thought the plot was slightly cliched, but the way it was shot and acted made it have the feel of a documentary or reenactment. Thought it dragged unfortunately. I'm glad I saw it, but its not the sort of thing that everyone will enjoy.

I liked it. There were a couple of points, like the confrontation between Rose and Jake, where the performances were a little too unpolished, but overall it was very entrancing. I agree, it's definitely not for everyone, but I'm glad I saw it, and I think it's good that the runtime was so short.

I liked it for what it was. It was gorgeously shot, for all the everyday-type imagery. I did have a problem with the perforamnces, though. I realize they were going for realistic, mundane dialogue and whatnot. But it was still TOO flat and lifeless at times. It's one thing when having a plain conversation about your past jobs and whatnot, but not as realistic to be devoid of emotion when hearing about a murder... especially someone you know. Even if you didn't know the person that's going to be "exciting" news in a small town like that.
