Trailer: Ultraviolet
I just found this and have heard nothing about it, which is surprising since it comes out in a little over a month. It's written and directed by Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium). It looks like a lot of fun mindless action, and I liked Equilibrium.
It won't let me post the direct link, so here's a link to the link: http://www.chud.com/index.php?type=news&id=5698 |
It looks ok. I may give it a chance on DVD.
|
Looks alright though, better than what the original promo work suggested.
Looks a lot like Aeon Flux. Never saw the originals (Which I now know, it has nothing to do with.) |
God Damn.... I think the trailer reveals too much.
Overall... I'm looking forward to it. |
Trailer isn't working for me. :(
|
isn't it the most beautiful thing...
|
Grrr, Sony and their PG-13ificationizing.
Looking forward to the movie, but moreso the DVD at this point. |
Seems different than the miniseries.

Looks kick ass I am a sucker for mindless, futuristic action, with unbelieveable action sequences and where they are using swords instead of guns, even though its the future and the guns in the future are kick ass, starring hot chicks, I am sooooo there. Hey what can I say I like Milla.

Very poor quality trailer but I have been waiting for this film for some time. It looks very green screen intensive and the quick sideways shot of the chopper doesn't look great. But I like the look of the soldiers (the armour shatters the same way it does on Perfect Dark Zero, doesn't it?), plus it has the Fichtner.
|
Daaaammmn. Okay, I'm not usually one to buy into these types, but I thought Equilibrium was fantastic. I'm absolutely there for this one. Probably a bit too much CGI, but what isn't these days?
Seriously, looks like a neat concept. I'll most certainly see it. |
I'm loving it. I adore Equilibrium, and it looks like this takes it up a notch.
|
Looks awesome. Hadn't heard of the movie until your post, but i'll definately be cheking this one out.
|
Looks great. |

I'm in this camp. Looks pretty dope ass. |
I wasn't very impressed by the trailer. Looks like a story that's been done a million times.
= J |
Was that the whole movie? Looks cool and I'm liking the style (that song at the end was cool too). Loved Equilibrium, and hopefully this one will take the action to a never-seen-before level too. Most people here are saying what I'm thinking, but over at AICN they are tearing the trailer apart. I hate internet snobs.

mindless actions rule!

Ultraviolet:Somebody at Sony needs to be fired

I saw a preview for this last night with the free Underworld screening I attended. The reaction was one of disbelief for the most part, and I myself said: "Hey, didn't you notice Aeon Flux bombed?" It seems like this was greenlit back when they thought Flux might be something successful, so they made a second rate knock off with Milla Jevovich(sp.?). This looks beyond terrible, even though it might be good if you like watching women run around in spandex again. |
lol that looks bad
|
well, it was directed by kurt wimmer, who did the awesome Equilibrium with Christian Bale, so I'll reserve judgement until I see the final product.
|
Looks pretty good to me, but then i like watching women run around in spandex kicking peoples asses.
|
I'm reserving judgement until I see the film, especially since Wimmer is involved.
The one major difference between this film and Aeon Flux is that this film wasn't sitting on the shelf for a year as the studio had no clue what to do with it. I think that's a sign the film probably doesn't suck as bad as you assume. |
Hey hey! It's Milla Jo in a movie adaptation, about a bunch of traditional folklore monsters created via lab shenanigans! Cribbing from Resident Evil, ehich cribbed from Aliens, which cribbed from Starship Troopers... oh, we're just getting into a whole new meta-sense of homage and theft.
I think the use of over-saturated colour looks beautiful. It's certainly a change from the over use of "dark blue everything" to communicate a different world. Very pretty production design, despite the overwhelming presence of CGI - and lots of style. I think it's a very original look. Sure, it owes a lot to other futuristic pictures, But i think they've created something beautiful to look at. http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/577/face25mp.jpg Very sexy. Everything else, however... hmm. More faceless soldier goons in black? Where do they come from? Evildoers never seem to run out of them... http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/64/building3ce.jpgArchitect Gerry was glum over the fact that his design for the new Chuck E. Cheese looked like an insidious laboratory of fear, hate and evil to most people ... and I can't say much for a bad guy whose strongest line seems to be "are you mental?" Sure, you could have fun with that line, but he delivers it like he's Iago. Then "come and get it"... no. Just no. Hasn't worked since the 1960s. It's a line that can't work anymore. Anchorman even made fun of it. It's an Aaron Carter song. Still... http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/3395/face0pg.jpg ... very beautiful. Rolling ball soldier = good stuff. As for the rumors of Wimmer's abuse of power, I wouldn't be surprised... let's see how it turns out, anyway. Also, this isn't as much a knockoff of Aeon Flux as a (what appears to be, very loose) film adaptation of the UK's Channel 4 series Ultraviolet with Jack Davenport. |
