I'm always down for a Besson flick. This one looks very interesting.

Girl on the Bridge is one my absolute favorites, and I'm quite intrigued by this. Nice to see Besson back in the Director's chair.

I saw an interview with Jamel Debbouze last night on TV5 (french tv). People will remember him from "Astérix et Cléopâtre" where he stole the show. This film just came out in France (the whole thing was a big secret, nobody knew what this film was about) and critics seem to say it's ok but not great, like a 7/10. It's actually more reminiscent of "Wings of Desire" than "Girl on the Bridge". It borrows it's style and esthetics from the Wenders film and uses the same "character lost in a symbolic city (Paris)" as it's main plot point. Critics say that the strength of the film comes from the Debbouze/Rasmussen relationship and that both actors are excellent. They criticize Besson however for "sitting between two chairs" and alternating between the old Besson of "Dernier Combat" and the new Besson of "The Messenger". To quote:

"The film alternates in style between that of the perfect student of cinema who knows his illustrated Godard and Wenders by heart, and the run-of-the-mill Hollywood romantic comedy with all it's pathos and melodramatic excesses."

The later mostly referring to the last 20-30 min. of the film. But as I stated, they gave big thumbs up to Debbouze and Rasmussen. And yes, it's "Angel-A".

The video is simply great...and Rasmussen stunning. This will be mine on release day indeed.

Besson directed it? I'm there!

Yeah, I definitely want to see this. I absolutely love Luc Besson films.

Too bad I don't speak French. But the cinematography looks pretty sweet.

My problem with Besson is, I think his work is more based on the form, the style.I didn't care about that when I
was young, that's why I liked "Le dernier combat", "The great blue" or "Subway", now those films are superficial to me.

Compared to an other french director born in the 50's like him, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, I'd say Besson is not a great
story teller. He's good to find the original idea of a film, he mastered the technics of filming that's all, and
that's not enough.

When I look at the list of the films he produced my opinion about Besson as a producer is
getting more negative. His best films to me are "Nikita", "Leon" and "Angel-A" for Jamel's performance.
