Everyone has different taste, so these top 10 movie (or even Oscars) are very subjective.

Sure, which is why the thread is titled "What are YOUR top 10 films of 2005"?

For me, it's helpful because I can tell who has tastes similar to mine and can check out movies on those people's lists that I may have missed.

5. Shane Black - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Well, I've seen 41 according-to-Hoyle (i.e. Oscar Year) 2005 movies, and with a lot of 'em, I was more impressed with individual performances than with the films as a whole. Nonetheless...

1. Jarhead
2. Capote
3. Munich
4. The 40 Year Old Virgin
5. Lord of War
6. A History of Violence
7. Last Days
8. Millions
9. Broken Flowers
10. Sin City

The Worst...

1. Saw 2
2. Flightplan
3. The Amityville Horror
4. The Great Raid
5. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Haven't seen Brokeback Mountain, The New World, Fun With Dick and Jane, and a few others yet, but only probably The New World would have any impact on my list.

cheers,

-the Jesus

I gained a lot of respect for Ebert when he had the stones to put Spiderman 2 on his list last year. A lot of critics gave him crap, but I thought the movie was deserving of the spot. Regretfully, I haven't seen any of the movies on his list this year, but I do plan on seeing King Kong before the new years.

My Top 10 of 2005

1. Batman Begins
2. The Island (hey I really enjoyed this in the theater)
3. SW Ep 3
4. Serenity

That's about it, the other movies I saw, Hitchhiker, Saw II, and Fantasic 4 were not too hot.

(it was a good year for Sci-Fi/ Fantasy)

So is Screw Ebert anything like Get Shorty or Kill Bill? Or the movie adaptation of 2 Live Crew's F*** Martinez?

I have yet to see Memoirs of a Geisha, Brokeback Mountain, and The New World...not anticipating many changes to this list (with the possible exception of Match Point, which I am hoping to love)...my runner up films so were: Sin City, Cinderella Man, War of the Worlds, The 40 Year Old Virgin, The Weather Man, Walk The Line and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
