2005 movies you looked forwarded to & got disappointed

Totally looked forward to the following films and got quite disappointed:

Brothers Grimm - really wanted to see Gilliam back to form

Memoirs of a Geisha - great to look at but quite the story was quite empty

Kingdom of Heaven - personally, I thought it was a good movie but I guess I expected more fm Ridley Scott

Ring Two - I thought bringing Hideo Nakata was a stroke of genius, but alas, the film turned out to be very tedious

Flightplan - it was like watching Panic Room set in an airplane

Elizabethtown - huge disappointment from Cameron Crowe, one of my favorite directors

Batman Begins. Everyone was saying how good it was. And the previews looked great. People said it made the '89 Batman look laughable. I believed them, and I had really high hopes.

I bought the special edition DVD as a blind buy. I was shocked at how much I hated it. And then I was shocked that people (real humans) actually like this movie. I was actually depressed for about a day, cause I really wanted to like it too. It made me question whether I was human, or if some witch cast a spell on people to make them think they liked the movie and lie to me about how great it was.

I still haven't gotten around to selling this piece of trash to the DVD exchange. And I still haven't gotten around to buying the '89 version.

The Ring Two. The original was...original, and had an intriguing plot. The second was just a typical possesed kid horror flick, with barely any tie to the original storyline concept. They completely threw out the video tape... 7 days...everything.

The obvious one: Revenge of the Sith (but I wasn't surprised I was disappointed!)

Others:
Cinderella Man (good acting by Crowe...but that's it)
Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (although it's still good enough to check out)
A History Of Violence (HIGHLY overrated by most critics)

Revenge of the Sith (mediocre), Serenity (bad), The Island (okay), Crash (good, was expecting great)

That's about it really, loved Batman Begins, liked Kong a great deal, loved Sin City... can't really think of any others I was looking forward to.

Ang Lee's Hulk was a big one.

Edit: oh, for 2005

I would say the Lemony Snicket thing, then.

Really looked forward to Constantine (grade: C), King Kong (C+), Kingdom of Heaven (C), and Serenity (didn't even see it). The first three had numerous flaws, if not just downright boring. Of course, I really looked forward to numerous others (Batman Begins, March of the Penguins, History of Violence, Sith and those met if not surpassed by own expectations), but those above were some disappiontments for me.

Crash, it was so full of itself. Every scene seemed extremely forced, with every actor just knowing they were a part of something that was supposed to be special.

Really?

Interesting...

I'd have to say 2046. I enjoyed it, but I was hoping for better.

Me too. I was very excited for this one and wow. It was a complete disaster.

Another disappointing movie was Memoirs of a Geisha. It was good enough, but I was expecting more.

Crash: It was good, but not great. I agree with others that it felt forced, especially in the beginning.

Batman Begins: Above average, but I really was expecting something great from all the hype it was getting.

Cinderella Man: Crowe's acting and some of the boxing scenes were the only things I liked in this film.

I think Last Days was the only one that fits for me. I knew going in that Crash and Syriana would be bad, so I wasn't disappointed when they were. On the flip side, I enjoyed Millions a lot more than I expected to, in large part due to the soudtrack and cinematography. And Me and You and Everyone We Know also exceeded my expectations, though not by much.
