So, I'd like help with a paper for school. (Movie related)

In my Legal Aspects of Arts & Entertainment class, we have a writing assignment; we have to pick a film and discuss the legal issues raised by the film. Suggested titles include The People Vs. Larry Flynt, A Civil Action and Anatomy Of A Murder. Our choice has to be approved.

I don't want to do any of the above titles, so I'm looking for a different one. A film centering around a legal question - not a film where the court case is incidental or secondary (no My Cousin Vinny). Has to be set in American and be modern (No In The Name Of The Father or Amistad).

Has anyone any suggestions? I'm hitting a wall as to what would be a good one to do. Every idea I come up with seems to have a big glaring fault.

(I already asked him could I do The Exorcism Of Emily Rose. He said no, because his cousin's in it. Ah, film school.)

All the President's Men

While it doesn't factor in a court case, it did raise legal (as well as ethical) questions about the president and the media in America.

The case might be too "incidental" but how about Runaway Jury http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0313542/?

Mod note: Since this is more of a movie question than anything, I'm moving it to the movie forum. I suspect there are people there who can help you that never venture into the Other forum

In The Name Of The Father isn't modern, but The People Vs. Larry Flynt is?

You could do X-men 2 and use it as a springboard for discussing an individual's rights vs. the rights of society. Yeah, it's a stretch, but it'd be original and I'd think it could be turned into a good paper.

I don't know if the legal aspect is front and center enough for what you're looking for but still........maybe Disclosure.

Great novel, mediocre film, but could be a unique paper.

Inherit the Wind has modern relevance, though it's an older film.

Minority Report

Okay, it's set in the future, but it does raise an important legal question of whether someone can be arrested for a crime he has not committed yet.

Speaking of Kevin Bacon, you could also do Sleepers.
