"Inside Man" A potentially good movie with a great cast

I searched but nothing came up.

Denzel Washington
Clive Owen
Jodie Foster
Willem Dafoe

and oh...directed by spike lee (IMHO, the potential weak link )

That's a pretty solid cast right there. I saw a mention of it the other day in a Slate.com interview with Spike Lee. Lee gave a paragraph summary of the film.

After SHE HATE ME, this new film needs to be beyond perfect for Lee to get any of his respect back.

I hope we get the version of Spike Lee that directed "25th Hour".

I too liked The 25th Hour -- hopefully this'll be on the same level.

Trailer looked pretty sweet. As formulaic as the synopsis sounds, I think Mr. Lee will make it fresh. Music in the trailer distracted me a bit; it's taken off the Collateral soundtrack, to which I've listened too much.

Saw the trailer today in front of King Kong. And I agree with the thread title.

Didn't Sucker Free City come out after that?

A step up, but not beyond perfect. Plus, it was a failed pilot that nobody saw.

Personally I think the weak link in that cast is Jodie Foster by far. The other three are top-tier actors, although Clive Owen has made some poor choices in his effort to become an American household name.

I saw this preview and was shocked when I saw the director was Spike Lee. It looked to me like standard thriller fare, but Lee's involvement has me interested. I also think seeing Jodie Foster play an atagonist(at least that's how the preview looks) will be unique.

...actually...it'd be correct if it was Paul Thomas Anderson...

(or Uwe Boll?)

I wonder if the studio has full confidence in this, considering it's getting a Spring release. Wouldn't a Spike Lee film with a good cast usually get a late Summer or Fall release???

She Hate Me and Bamboozled were both released in the fall.

And we know how those films turned out.

Spoiler:
Sure, The 25th Hour was a good Spike Lee film (which hasn't happened since the early '90s) that was released in the fall, but we will focus more on his failures.

I've had high hopes for this film ever since seeing the trailer last December. As long as it doesn't get killed my the critics and word of mouth.

I couldn't care less who directs the film. I'm fairly certain I'll like it.

The cast is enough to sell me. I think I'll check it out. Hopefully it'll be smarter than most films of the genre tend to be...
