"Inside Man" A potentially good movie with a great cast

Jeff Wells of Hollywood Elsewhere loved this and he hates alot of stuff. From what I gather, this has hit written all over it. The free ticket from the Spike Lee set will come in handy. This will likely be the last movie I see in theaters until M:I3.

That's a trio for you - Owen, Washington, and Foster. Will be worth it just to see how the three interrelate. That's potential for some fragmented, conflicting chemistry.
I'm in for this weekend.
Also, I haven't seen the 25th Hour, but I'll probably check it out soon thanks to this thread. I've been interested for a while, but the lower sticker price for the DVD had me wavering between purchase/rental.

well, 88% fresh with 7 to 1 ratio.
"Lee, like Croneberg and History of Violelnce, has taken a familiar genre-the heist/perfect crime-and injected into it not only new elements but his authorial personal vision, resulting in a brilliant and possibly his best work in at least a decade."

not too bad.

I really want to see this, and I think it will draw major ticket sales on its star power alone. Heck, a lot of the adult audience seem to like Jodie Foster unconditionally, regardless of how crappy the movie she's in proves. Denzel also seems to have a pretty strong following as well, and then there's Spike Lee, who will draw in the movie buff crowd.

Sitting with an impressive 87% at Rottentomatoes, and that's with most reviews accounted for right now. This looks to impress, I hope it does. The heist genre isn't something Spike Lee is known for, but apparently he does it quite well.

I will be seeing this tonight and looking foward to it. I was in the Financial District last summer and saw extras being filmed but none of the main stars.

I really liked it. The plot moves pretty quick at first, then it slows down, takes it's time to build the characters and the situations. It's not exactly the movie they're advertising, but I really enjoyed the hell out of it. Washington and Owen are awesome and when they go toe to toe, it makes for pretty great entertainment. Lee's style with the film was really great too. I'd rank this film just behind DTRT and 25th Hour for my favourite Lee films.
If you like a SMART thriller and good acting, this should be right up your alley. I was certainly satisfied.

It just keeps going up. Now it's 91%!
I liked the looks of it from the trailer, but I didn't expect it to be that good. I'll definitely have to see it.

I just got back from seeing this one. It's a really fresh take on an old idea, and it's executed perfectly (the plot). I agree with the previous statement about the film not really being the one they are advertising as well, but that's not a bad thing. It's a really smart, fantastically acted flick. It's also one that I have a feeling that you wont entirely be able to take it all in in a single viewing.

One more quick thing. While the acting is indeed fantastic, I didn't really feel any "award winning" performances or anything like that. It was just very solid, all across the board. This flick is more about the story, and the great direction.
It also made me laugh out loud more than once, and I wasn't alone on that either.

I am a little lukewarm on this film, perhaps a little slow in spots (mainly the middle section of the film), and character motivations seemed light and hazy. It features a bank heist with hostages, and NYPD's finest trying to resolve the situation without loss of life and minimizing the theft amounts. Director Spike Lee gets off a few "judging the book by the cover" rants through a few of the characters that didn't quite add much to the film, and the energy level just seemed to simmer along, idling here and there and retained a steady restraint in tone.
Denzel Washington was somewhat entertaining as a beleaguered detective with a dark cloud of corruption hanging over him, and thrusted into this negotiation scernario because the primary was on vacation. Jodie Foster's character didn't do much for me, and she sort of just showed up, said her lines, and moved on. But Clive Owens seemed to have a little better time with the role.
I give it 2.75 stars, or a grade of B-.

I got a film noir feel while watching it. I guess it's because Denzel was in Devil In A Blue Dress, the hat he wears in the film, certain use of shadowing here and there, as well as some of the music in certain scenes.
I'd agree with a rating of B- or B+, overall.
I also didn't see the point in the "judging a book by it's cover" stuff either. Anyone who has seen the flick will know instantly what we are all more than likely talking about in that respect.
