I have heard this as well. Bettie Davis claimed that Crawford "had a crush on the boobs and tw*t" sitting next to her (meaning Davis).

I also read that Crawford had a one-time fling with Marilyn Monroe and that Crawford "screamed like a banshee" when she climaxed.

Again, Crawford is no longer here to substantiate these rumors.

I remember that one! It's a sequel to "Dawn: Portrait of A Teenage Runaway" featuring Eve Plum in a cool red leather jumpsuit

All were written, and the first three directed, by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, the dead German bisexual director who committed suicide after directing something like 30 films in 15 years (including two miniseries). Fassbinder had a, shall we say, pessimistic view of human relationships, especially the sexual dynamic. In other words, these aren't Priscilla, the Queen of the Desert.

I'll check Tower and the local gay bookstore. They both have a great selection of gay-themed films for rental.

If it helps, Water Drops on Burning Rocks was directed by Francois Ozon, who has also made Under the Sand, Swimming Pool, and 5x2. None of those three films have much in the way of an explicitly 'gay' narrative, but I guess one could argue that all of Ozon's films have something of a 'gay' sensibility, whatever the hell that means.

And don't forget Criminal Lovers (more gay-themed, I would say, then the other Ozon flicks).

I've never heard of it, best than I can recall. Is that one of his 'midlength' films (longer than a short, but shorter than a feature)? In all honesty I have to admit that I generally hate Ozon's films, but enough people enjoy them that I thought they deserved mention.

i saw a film a few years ago on IFC but cant remember the title. it has an urban setting (brooklyn? queens?) and no recognizable actors. the story revolves around an somewhat overweight teenage (13-15) latina that falls in love with her best friend, a skinny, popular promiscuous teenage latina. i remember the cinematography being similar in style to Raising Victor Vargas.

anyone know it?

also, wanted to add Fucking Åmål (AKA Show Me Love) to the list here.

That's a good one to see clips and all the subtext in various things. Too bad they don't have a follow up.

I've heard a ton of good stuff regarding Mysterious Skin.

I'd suggest Boondock Saints...

I've heard comparisons to a Tarrantino movie but what would give it gay subtext?
Mysterious Skin is suppose to be great.

I just saw it last night (netflix) after letting it sit on my table for ages... And really can't get it out of my head today... I'm going to have to get the book. And maybe watch it again tonight before sending it back.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's performance in this movie is just amazingly good; if he doesn't pick up an Oscar himself in the next few years I'll be very surprised. Very sad, very hot, both repulsive and comforting. Gregg Araki's always been interesting, but never this human before.
