I'd say watch them in order (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead) but to be honest it doesn't matter too much.

They really should use the working title I have for a movie I'm working on. It's doubtful this movie will get off the ground now, so they should call the new Romero film...

LONG LIVE THE DEAD

At the rate the zombies are getting smarter, I would say the next film will have them driving cars, flying planes, and running some sort of small business.

Terrible.

Well Day was not positively looked upon either, originally. Of course it has grown in reputation since then. For me Land has gotten better on repeat viewings. It could be even better if the sequel works as the other half of the film, which Romero has stated.

My hopes for the sequel are that Riley and the gang run into a zombie training camp right out of the original Day script.

The films need to be gory. A zombie film without the level of flesh eating like in Dawn or Day just dosn't seem right.

Oh and the name being used on AICN is Road of the Dead.
No it's not. Harry Knowles just says that he wants it to be called Road of the Dead. He made it up.

Right...thus it is being used on AICN by Harry and the talkback people. I didn't say anything but that.

Romero films make for better remakes . . .

. . . how about this interesting plot twist: A band of marauding humans try to stay alive not by congergating en masse, but by developing small tribal societies. One of these tribes is discovered by our travelling band of heroes . . . and the terrible secret is discovered that the tribe has resorted to EATING ZOMBIES FOR SUSTENANCE!!!!

. . . how about if the zombies have evolved to the point that they have gained musical talent and go on tour as . . . !duh! the GREATFUL DEAD!!!!

Hmmm...sounds kinda like Diamond Dead, Romero's other movie he was working on...which will probably never get made though.

Funny how for years Romero couldn't get a cent to make 'Land' and now they can't make another fast enough.

How do you figure? He didn't play Bub in Day. He is not listed as Bub in the credits. In the special feature detailing Simon going to the set and playing a zombie they never once bring up Bub. Sorry Mike, I love Bub as much as the next Romero fan, but that is not Bub.

As much as I hate the way this sounds, I almost hope Romero gets *less* money next time. It was nice he finally got a big (by his standards) budget to work with, but it ended up going to things that IMO strayed from what made the other films successful. We got big open cityscapes with lush skyscrapers, big populations of humans, giant war machine vehicles... I missed the claustrophobic small scale survivalist feel of the previous three. Don't get me wrong, I like LotD, but I can't help but wonder if it actually would've been better if scaled back/stripped down a bit.

Agreed with that DRG. I'm glad Romero could finally get a budget to work with...but I missed the 'smaller' feel of his indie dead films. I like seeing small groups of people fight against large #'s of undead. This one was 100's of survivors VS. 100's of undead.

I saw Land of the Dead the other night and thought it was just horrible. Bad dialouge and a dumb story. I hope they dont make more.
I thought the Zombies thinking and getting smarter was a really bad decision.

That would be insulting the intelligence of zombies.

The next one could take place in the White House.
