So this is how you kill a franchise.

I demand at least one meta reference about cropping Ernie Hudson/Leslie Jones out of a scene.

I ain't 'fraid of no ghosts...but I am afraid of those four scary-looking chicks.

What a great way to screw fans. I'd rather have the original cast dressed in short pink skirts and crotchless panties than see this monstrosity.

What's next. A men-only Sister Act sequel?

So instead of this train wreck, check out this cool Ghostbusters board game on Kickstarter.

That game looks pretty great. Reminds me of the gameplay in Betrayal at House on the Hill which I like a lot. As a lifelong Ghostbusters fan I might have to spring for the $125 version of it...

EDIT: Just pledged for the $125 version. Damn you Michael Corvin getting me to spend more money.

Re: Ghostbusters III (D: Feig, S: McCarthy, Wiig, Jones, McKinnon)

That's right, keep unlocking those stretch goals! I'm in for two $125 + all add-ons. One for me and one for my 5 year-old nephew who just had a Ghostbusters-themed birthday party with fully-decked-out members of Oklahoma Ghostbusters in attendance. This game is timed perfectly for next Christmas and birthday as I've otherwise run out of gifts to give after stumbling into the deck of playing cards by Albino Dragon at PAX South!

I've had my eye on those Goonie and Princess Bride decks for awhile. I just can't justify dropping $15 + shipping on a single deck of cards.

Sister Act is about nuns. Who are women. But are only guys allowed to be Ghostbusters?

*checks thread*

Oh wait. Yep.

I'm not opposed to women Ghostbusters... but not these and especially not Melissa McCarthy. Wiig might be OK, though she looks completely wasted in that pic.

I've never even heard of McKinnon or Jones (had to look them both up). Are they even funny?

McKinnon is actually pretty hilarious and the only reason to watch SNL these days.

McKinnon can be. Jones hasn't made me laugh once, though.

I'm also not that thrilled with Feig directing. Didn't care for Bridesmaid or The Heat. If they really want to go all out, hire Matthew Vaughn

I do like McKinnon quite a bit. But Jones? She is incredibly unfunny, and just awful. Horrible beyond belief. And that's being nice.

Re: Ghostbusters III (D: Feig, S: McCarthy, Wiig, Jones, McKinnon)

This is my favorite McKinnon character :
<iframe src="//player.theplatform.com/p/NnzsPC/widget/select/media/ZIztiIV7u4Ys?disableEndCard=true" width="480" height="270" frameBorder="0" seamless="seamless" allowFullScreen></iframe>

I do echo the opinion on Jones however. Great that they want a black woman on SNL (and maybe this), but not her. She's not funny.

So I guess we've moved on from, "An all female cast team is a gimmick, unlike the all male original," to, "OMG, Melissa McCarthy and Leslie Jones are ugly, unlike Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd."

Yeah, that's what's happening. Damn us misogynists!

To be fair, it wasn't just the two movies. There's been tons and tons of ancillary stuff-video games, cartoons, toys, etc. They've been trying to get another movie off the ground to cash in on its ongoing popularity for a long time.

We can all thank Bill Murray for this reboot, for turning down repeated offers from Sony to film another sequel.

You nailed it. The story isn't about ghosts, it's more about male attractiveness.
