Have you got a link for this story? I can find no such story online.

Everything I read at the time indicated Holmes dropped out of TDK because she wanted to return to TV.

The only two stories I can find are 1) she wanted to make and/or was paid more to make a dud called Mad Money and 2) Tom Cruise was a maniac who controlled her career and told her she can't do it.

I admit both stories sound like bullshit so I can see where stories like Guru's get spread.

Yeah, you're actually not allowed to talk about jobs for rival studios while on a press tour for another movie/studio. I don't think they'd do something dramatic as suggested with Katie Holmes, but they definitely don't take kindly to it.

But again, where did that story come from? I did a Google search and theories vary but that was not one of them.

I know I've watched interviews where an actor or actress mentioned other projects than the one they were there to promote. I can't think of a specific instance but I don't think studios lockdown interviews that much. As long as their film or show is the main thing being promoted and has a clip shown or whatever. Guests on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson would go off topic all the time (mostly because Ferguson didn't follow a typical format).

I don't think that's real at all. My wording sucks

I remember Ellen Page being really stoked to talk about Inception, even though she couldn't very much, while doing press for Whip It.

The other day when I googled it I found someone on Reddit talking about it. It's certainly one of those unverifiable stories that rings far truer than the obvious bullshit of the official story.

Pretty sure I saw at least a handful of women in that teaser.

Worst trailer ever. This film is gonna suck.

Granted there's not much to go off of but the tone of that teaser seems a bit more serious than I'd expect with all the military and police officers and the music. Also it's sort of ridiculous to tease a trailer eighteen days in advance.

Yea, here are her own words:

I had a great experience working with Chris Nolan [and] I'm sure it's going to be a great movie. [But] I chose to do this movie ['Mad Money'], and I'm really proud of it.

A couple notes of interest from NY Toyfair 2016:

Varying degrees of spoiler-ness:

Spoiler:
Some kind of Library Ghost-esque character named Gertrude Eldridge revealed as a Funko Pop, a more realistic idea of the demonic character previously seen in the LEGO set courtesy of Mattel's action figure line, the reveal of the villain Rowan's ghost which appears to be some kind of manifestation of the logo ghost (both Funko Pop and Mattel versions shown) and a mostly-unchanged Stay Puft Marshmallow Man displayed alongside the new Mattel figures. No GB1/2 product was shown which suggests it appears in the new movie, and it looks to me like it represents some kind of padded or inflatable costume.

toynewsi.com has pics. I'm too lazy to link any of them but you'll wanna check out the Funko and Mattel galleries if you're curious.

As someone who never got the Ghosbusters hype and never even saw the movie until 2 years ago I felt the strength of the thing was Ramis funny script and Murray's comic genius. The plot and everything was irrelevent without those 2 ingredients.

This to me could go either way because the McCarthy/Feig combo gave the world Spy which was funny as hell and the Wiig/Feig combo gave the world Bridesmaid which I also enjoyed. However it also gave the world The Heat

Agree 100%. I never got the GB hype and the latter McCarthy/Feig films were fun.

This is basically what you get when you cop to liking Bridesmaids around these parts:

well... apparently we know who the villain is.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/51GtaS9Vbow" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Also... those figures look horrible. They really didn't work hard on the detail there for the main cast.

So the villain is the ghost from the actual ghostbusters logo? Wow, just wow.

yeah. Uhm. I dunno how I feel about that. Might be cool if whoever voices/plays him rocks... but that's not really original of a villain.

Using the logo as the bad guy reminds me of this line from Ben Stein at 1:08. The "metaphor" line.
