All I know is I hate bad remakes/reboots/reimaginations of really good movies.

And I really believe that this will, unfortunately, fall in that category. It sure looks bad. Stupid bad.

I'm not feeling the love for McKinnon personally. It just feels too much like they're trying to make her like a female hipster Egon to me.

Can't wait for this bullshit to come out, just to read the critics rip it apart. Fuck, it may even get shredded worse than Bill Murray's newest one.

I've never found her to be very funny on SNL, it's sad that she's the biggest appeal for fans so far. Imagine how different the reaction would be if they got popular actresses like Aubrey Plaza and Emma Stone for this instead.

I've long suspected that a lot of the hate for this film is linked to the lack of "jack-bait" cast in the roles.

Paul Feig and Melissa McCarthy have a pretty good track record together:

Bridesmaids: 90% on Rotten Tomatoes
The Heat: 65% on Rotten Tomatoes
Spy: 93% on Rotten Tomatoes

I assume you're referring to Rock the Kasbah for Murray at 8%. Now what makes you think they'll go to 8% or less with the critics on Ghostbusters? The lowest rated movie Feig has had as a director was Unaccompanied Minors at 31%. McCarthy has never had one below 18% and that was The Back-Up Plan, which she was not the star of.

Nothing makes me think that. I just want to see it fail.

You said it may get shredded worse than Rock the Kasbah. I'm asking what you are basing that on, since the people involved have never done as badly with the critics as you think they might do here.

I'm not basing it on anything. It may get shredded worse than Rock the Kasbah. Right? It's possible, yes? Although the sharif may like Ghostbusters more.

And, frankly, I continue to be shocked as to how low the RT is on The Heat. It starts off slow and awkward, but it ends up being an astoundingly hilarious movie, far superior to Spy IMHO.

I liked Spy but found The Heat pretty much insufferable.
