The DVD is available through the site already, it seems. Although I don't really know what the film is about. It sounds like it's just telling us that big companies screw over their employees. If so, no shit - most companies try and do that.

I haven't seen the new movie yet, but I'm willing to bet the CNBC special is much, much more even-handed. Robert Greenwald's last few documentaries (Unprecedented, Uncovered, and Outfoxed) have been Michael Moore style hatchet pieces.

Yeah, I dunno... as much as I'm against Wal-Mart and their business model, I just see this as a way to capitalize on that fact. It sort of defeats the purpose of pointing the finger when your primary objective is to make money.
The site encourages you to "host a screening." At first I was intrigued and thought about requesting a copy for my University, but then I realized you had to PAY to get the DVD. This seems like an important issue to reveal to the smaller towns in rural America that rely on Wal-Mart, primarily because that's their only option, but frankly I can't see the logic. Now I know film production costs time/money, but I feel that I can do without watching a biased, one-sided documentary.

Ebert and Roeper didn't even try to defend this movie as being a documentary.
"Next is Wal-Mart: The High Cost Of Low Price and it's not so much a documentary as a 95 minute attack on the nations largest retailer..."
That said...they still both gave it a thumbs up.

Wow, as much as I hate working retail that movie looks horrid. If they want to make a movie about a huge corporation closing down mom & pop stores then make one about Blockbuster. Don't make it about people that got fired or wouldn't get promoted...puhleaze go get a real job!

I can't believe educated people think this stuff is for real. I watched parts of Michael Moore's "documentaries" and the only facts in there were that banks give out guns as gifts and that 2 planes hit the WTC. Everything else is inuendo, just to the point where they can make people think they are stating a fact.

i haven't see it yet, but from the arguments on the website i know it's full of crap. Alan Greenspan and other respected economists have said that wal mart is good for the economy.
Since this whole thing started with Michael Moore, I can safely say that it's going to be a bunch of cry stories, no facts, and simply a bunch of accusations with just enough allowed by their lawyers that screened this movie to avoid a lawsuit.
