Actually, my guess is that, if they really liked Craig, they will have signed him to a multi-picture deal. One of the reasons that George Lazenby didn't come back after OHMSS (apart from him not getting along with the director) was that his agent advised him not to sign a multi-picture deal.

;)

I actually wouldn't mind if he kept the blonde; if the producers are trying to revive the series, it wouldn't hurt to make a Blonde Bond.

You know I meant this one. :)

(My joke being that a blond Bond would be akin to a dark haired Constantine.)

A blond Bond might be a little tougher for me to take than a dark haired Constantine, but hey! At least this guy's a Limey.

Dr. DVD 10-11-05 05:58 PM

The only reason I would condone Craig dying his hair is that Bond is a rather well known figure, much moreso than John Constantine.

Cool - now they need to get on w/ a nitty-gritty Bond flick.

Spiderbite 10-11-05 06:13 PM

After I recently saw Layer Cake I immediately thought of Craig as the new Bond. I think it is a good decision.

animalmystic 10-11-05 06:51 PM

Not much familiar with his work, though I have seen RtP, and didn't like it. But as the above poster mentioned, I will give him a shot before I say he sucks ass. Plus I like Martin campbell helming.

I'm predicting an "even-numbered" James Bond curse for this one. The odd-numbered actor is widely accepted (#1 Sean Connery, #3 Roger Moore, #5 Pierce Brosnan) where as the even-numbered actor never lasts more than two films and nearly kills the franchise (#2 George Lazenby, #4 Timothy Dalton, #6 Daniel Craig?).
Reminds me of the Star Trek curse. rotfl

Who can honestly say this face screams suave ladies man?

He might fit the bill for dark, ruthless spy, but that is only part of the appeal. This guy looks like he got stuck in a meat grinder.

SeanValen 10-11-05 09:09 PM

There's more of a chance Craig might be a Bond villian, he looks like a Bond villian.

Until a official announcement, this is speculation. No one is Bond as of yet.

DonnachaOne 10-11-05 09:12 PM

It's a tabloid repeating the Sun, another tabloid. I'd forget about it for now.

DRG 10-11-05 09:14 PM

I've only this guy in The Jacket, and based on that all I can say is wh-wh-what?

He may be a good actor, but he's freaky looking... seems more like a Bond villain than anything.

Yocke 10-11-05 09:52 PM

I think he'll fit perfectly. Dye his hair black and you're done.

oh please no....this seems like an awful idea...

ya think? I thought he was quite attractive with a beard and mustache in The Mother

I still think Jeremy Northam would make a great Bond.

sdcrym 10-12-05 12:26 AM

Didn't Roger Moore have blonde hair?

SuprVgeta 10-12-05 02:43 AM

Anybody got some bigger / better pictures of this guy? I've never even heard of him.

Try a GIS. It wouldn't hurt to rent Layer Cake and/or Road to Perdition to see his acting abilities. Actually, he was a badass monk in Elizabeth too, now that I think about it.

totally agree, bring back brosnan.

Doughboy 10-12-05 09:28 AM

The guy certainly doesn't look like Bond, but maybe that's a good sign if EON is going with an unconventional choice for the role. I'm tired of them playing it safe and using the same tired formula every time out. Brosnan was a decent Bond, but after GoldenEye, his movies sucked.

Who they cast as Bond has little do with the same tired formula. The fact that the producers turned down Quentin Tarantino shows they really don't care to try anything new.

I had read that Ian Fleming based the Bond character off of Cary Grant. If that is the case then Daniel Craig certainly does not or ever will fit the bill.

Mr. Cinema 10-12-05 02:20 PM

I can just see Craig saying:

"The name's Bond, James "Mother Fucking" Bond."

 You know Brosnan doesn't write the films right?

warcp 10-12-05 03:50 PM

Seems confirmed from many sources now- Craig will be the next Bond.

I don't recall saying he did.

He rather was -- except his bad teeth bothered me and I hoped they were fakes (apparently not). I've seen him in about 4 or 5 films and he's quite a riveting actor, though, so I'm willing to see what he does with the role.

IanH 10-12-05 06:32 PM

Well, I think he'd be good for providing a rougher edge. But he probably won't convince me as a ladykiller which is so crucial to his persona.
