Tom Cruise has studied the history of psychiatry, not just on earth but the galactic history of it. And he understands that psychiatrists are evil aliens who are friends of xenu. We are all tegeeacians you know.

Yup, got my vote.

This thread is pointless. You might as well ask who's the most dishonest politician in history. Eccentricity is the norm in acting. These are people who pretend to be other people for a living. A better question would be, who's the least eccentric Hollywood actor? To which I would probably nominate Paul Newman, who, given the level of fame he's had for 40+ years, seems to have his head screwed on surprisingly straight.

As for most eccentric, it's hard to pick between Glover and Kinski.

And on the other hand, Hollywood has a lot of straight humdrum type actors. Do you think guys like George Clooney and Tim Robbins are eccentric? Some actors are nuttier than others-I agree with the guy that said Brando. The backstory on Brando's "demands" for The Missouri Breaks and The Island of Dr. Moreau is legendary.

Kinski for me, too.

He's doing the same thing with his TV forum threads.

By the way, Crispin Glover was also my first thought. Also, I'd add Brother Theodore:

I dunno. I don't hear the word eccentric and think "violent/short temper." I think "keeps his own urine in jars." Lots of the people named here are simply assholes. Or drug addicts. I think it takes something special to be labeled "eccentric."

I may not have my facts correct but wasn't Paul Reubens looking at regular porn and not child porn...I realize to some there might not be a difference, but for me it's a huge difference between the two.

Crispin Glover was the first to come to mind...although when I saw him on the Tonight Show, he seemed surprisingly down to earth. Even if he does collect antique surgical instruments and sleeps in a coffin.

Marlon Brando was my second choice.

Drexl 10-05-05 05:22 PM

I don't know about Christopher Walken. He looks odd and plays odd characters, but he seems to be a normal guy.

For living actors, how about David Arquette? I remember when he was on the Tonight Show when they started broadcasting it in HD; he ran around in a weird green cape outfit, saying "HIGH DEFINITION!" I also saw an interview with Courtney Cox where she said he and his father like to dress up like clowns.

For deceased, Brando was the strangest.

Cancer Man 10-09-05 06:23 PM

It's very hard to define who is eccentric in Hollywood, since Hollywood (and the entertainment industry in general) is an inherently eccentric area of society. Hollywood attracts all kinds of odd bods, out of control egomaniacs and just plain old degenerates.

It's like shooting fish in barrel in picking the most dysfunctional or eccentric Hollywood celeb, and judging from a recent thread, Wesley Snipes could join the list as well.

Charlie Goose 10-10-05 07:03 AM

I guess we can all agree that most Hollywood actors are damaged goods.

ytrez 10-10-05 07:13 AM

Val Kilmer. I recently saw an interview with that guy and he borders on crazy!

He did an interview with one of those nightly news shows like Dateline or 20/20. Basically, he collected vintage artsy photos of naked people. These included people who looked like they could have been underage but he insisted they weren't.

Elvis...does he count?...he was seriously crazy

Well, "dubious" seems to be a favorite word with good ole Cancer Man because he uses it again in the 1st post of this thread.

Tie between Andy Kaufmann and Crispin Glover.
