Armaggedon is on there? I'd add Million Dollar Baby for sure.

FinkPish 09-19-05 09:25 PM

"Interesting" list. I personally tear up at the end of Last of the Mohicans, Grave of the Fireflies, and more recently, the end of The 25th Hour. And an odd one, I get "emotional" during Nick Nolte's flashback about what happened to his wife in Hulk.

Giles 09-19-05 09:34 PM

for some reason I remember really losing it at the end of
- The Joy Luck Club
- The Color Purple

marty888 09-19-05 10:15 PM

I can understand its absence from a British list, but RUDY would be near the top for me (and I don't even like football!).

TomOpus 09-19-05 10:18 PM

E.T. in the top 5 for both men and women

whynotsmile 09-19-05 10:56 PM

stepmom

jchamoun 09-19-05 11:44 PM

The Elephant Man, and the end of Midnight Cowboy.

SPiRAL 09-20-05 12:08 AM

Yeah E.T. got me as a kid.
Savanah Smiles : also from childhood.
My Dog Skip was the last one to make me cry.

AnonomusBob15 09-20-05 12:17 AM

Surprised not to see Mr. Holland's Opus. Watched that this afternoon and teared up.

Nice additions like Edward Scissorhands and The Elephant Man for the women. Most of the choices are typical, although some I don't understand (Titanic? Of Mice and Men?)

Good mention on Last of the Mohicans.

SINGLE104 09-20-05 12:22 AM

Imitation of Life
The Champ (1979)
Ghost
Terms of Endearment

TheStoicPaisano 09-20-05 01:01 AM

Field of Dreams is a good choice. I also get a little teary at the end of Black Hawk Down.

The Infidel 09-20-05 01:12 AM

When I saw the thread title, my first thought was "weeping sores", but that would be a whole 'nother list of movies.

DickS 09-20-05 01:26 AM

Armaggedon is on there?
Maybe because people tend to weep at the astronomical waste of talent (not Michael Bay's... I'm still not convinced he has talent) and money.

But I would add BAMBI, the Oscar-winning doc BEST BOY; SCHINDLER'S LIST; FORBIDDEN GAMES; PONETTE... I'm sure I'll think of others.

MovieMaster11 09-20-05 01:30 AM

add:
Man on the Moon
I Am Sam

andicus 09-20-05 01:47 AM

Charly (Flowers for Algernon)
Pet Sematary (the "No fair" scene)

lukewarmwater 09-20-05 02:02 AM

this is sort of a sexist comment and I appologize in advance, but did anyone else notice that the woman's movie list has more crap on it then the mens?

I.E. Stepmom, Titanic, Ghost, Steel Magnolis, Pay it forward vs armagedon

jetflair 09-20-05 03:11 AM

I found Armageddon to be a tear-jerker, but the Green Mile had me pretty weepy too.

Me too :( Soooooooooo sad

Frank TJ Mackey 09-20-05 03:56 AM

When A Man Loves A Woman.

I thought the Michael Bolton remake of the song was weepy, but Meg Ryan had me at gulp, gulp (Andy Garcia help me) gulp. :)

NatrlBornThrllr 09-20-05 04:43 AM

Anybody who claims to have never shed a tear because of "Old Yeller" is a goddamn liar. Big Fish makes my personal list.

Maybe because most women like crappy, sappy movies.

My personal favorite that is not on either list is Somewhere in Time. I ball everytime I watch that flick.

SINGLE104 09-20-05 09:57 AM

I forgot one.. Ice Castles.

Numanoid 09-20-05 10:08 AM

I always cry at the end of both Somewhere In Time and Fearless, for totally different reasons.

I've never cried during a movie(or TV show for that matter). But Old Yeller is a sad one. I still can't believe it's a Disney flick. Sure, Bambi is also, but a kid being forced to shoot his own dog is pretty hardcore.
