Brenden Fraser's character in Looney Tunes: Back in Action says he had a job as Brenden Fraser's stunt double

Cary Grant in His Girl Friday describing Ralph Bellamy's character that "he looks like that film actor, Ralph Bellamy"

or an actor refers to a previous role,
Linda Carter in Sky High, "I'm not Wonder Woman, you know".

Arnold pokes fun at himself in Last Action Hero, making numerous references to the actor Arnold versus his character.

Or was it that the character thought he was James Bond?

In the movie Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) (based on a popular then-recent play), Raymond Massey's character is described as looking like Boris Karloff. This joke worked much better in the original Broadway staging of the play, which actually featured Karloff in the role. (Instead of just looking like Karloff, he actually was Karloff).

Same actor and similar line can be heard in Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome

It's somewhat more obscure, but there's kind of an in joke regarding Fernando Rey's character in <b>Discreet Charm of the Bourgeosie</b> and the character he played in <b>The French Connection</b>. Also, a specific scene in Hitchcock's <b>Rope</b> abounds with references to characters James Stewart had played in other films.

Whaaaa? Please explain. Rope is one of my favorite films.
