Favourite RELIGIOUS Horror Movie

Let's say other than the Exorcist. Let's face it, the Exorcist is the King of Kings of Religious Horror films.

I have a soft spot for Lou Diamond Phillip's The First Power. Also the original Omen

Exorcist by a long shot.

I just saw Ex. of Emily Rose. I liked it. I thought the exocist scenes were well shot and creepy. The actress was terrific in terms of physically creating a possesed person.

What I loved most was the concept of belief in possession in modern society. If one believes in God, then one must believe in the satan. Then can satan's minions reek havoc on individuals through their works and the extreme situation a case of possession?

The thing that frightens me most about movie's whose subject is possession is that deep down inside, I believe it is possible...so the subject is rooted in reality for me and my religious beliefs. The movie was terrific in dealing with that topic.

I think that hits home with a lot of people and one of the primary reasons that the Exorcist is considered one of the scariest movies of all time. That's an interesting take on it.

My favorite would be The Omen and The Exorcist.

The Seventh Sign was OK, Demi Moore was good in it.

Other than The Exorcist:

The Rapture - the best
The Wicker Man - fascinating
The Seventh Sign -a little uneven but underrated
The Omen - solid and holds up
Frailty - a creepy and worthy new addition

Sometimes I'm not sure when you're serious but if you are I agree with you. I think God is also the villain in The Seventh Sign. Gotta love those movies.

Too bad god stays offscreen in these films. I'd love to have seen Mimi or Demi give him a good kick in the balls.

I like Constantine. It wasn't much horror as it was action, but I thought it was good. I don't like horror movies though. I either get into and get freaked out, or realize its fake and it does nothing for me.

althought it's pretty hard to choose, THE OMEN, has to be my favorite religous horror movie. I remember seeing it when I was little since it's my dad's favorite horror movie. I didn't know what was going on,

Spoiler:
girls with 666 on their heads. guys getting their heads cut off by flying sheets of class. scary kids that growl and get scared when they get near churches

sadly enough the sequels were pretty forgettable.

I second The Passion of the Christ.

I had nightmares for weeks after watching that one.

I'd say the The Omen, but it wasn't a religious movie. According to Kramer, Damien was "Nothing, just a mischievous, rambunctious kid."

I don't know how God is the villian in THE RAPTURE. If you mean that because God doesn't Rapture his people till after Mimi wastes her daughter.
It clearly says in the Bible that no man knows the hour of the 2nd coming.
But what the movie does teach is not to follow false prophets like Jim Jones or David Koresh who lead their followers to doom.
Whatever preacher is telling his flock that Christ is returning on a certain day is a false prophet. It's goofs like that that give the non-believers amo on not to try christainity.
