Not just her, but every female celebrity. Makeup does wonders for women, vastly enhances their facial features. Their natural looks are just ordinary, no difference from regular people, but are just in the public eye. Some of them would be unrecognizable without their makeup.
They hire the best professional makeup artist to do their work for them.

I'm going to have to go with Adam Sandler. The guy just isn't funny at all. I don't understand why people still flock to his movies.

Julia Roberts
Rene Zellwegger
Reese Witherspoon
J. Lo, I can't beleive people even consider her an actress, she is terrible.

I have to agree with ToddSm66, Adam Sandler is not that funny.

William Hurt. The man plays the exact same way in every movie no matter what character he plays. Does he have any acting skills at all?

Agree with Julia Roberts, for the same reasons as William Hurt.

Wow, two votes for Sean Penn? The Assassination of Richard Nixon, Mystic River, 21 Grams, I Am Sam, Sweet and Lowdown...the guy's come on strong since the turn of the century.

Yeah, his character in Kiss of the Spider Woman was exactly the same as his characters in The Big Chill and Body Heat.

Colin Farrell. I remember that huge batch of overhype after Tigerland, which he followed up with... American Outlaws. While I like some of the movies he's been in, most of his roles (SWAT, The Recruit) could have just as easily been played by Paul Walker.

I dunno, I couldn't picture anyone else playing his role in Punch-Drunk Love.

Re: Most Overrated Actor/Actress?

Jennifer Lawrence : While being decent actress, she definitely is the most overrated actress of this decade. I did like Silver Linings Playbook

Yes I just bumped a 10+ year old thread.

I still need to finish Red Sparrow .Have not watch Joy,Mother and Serena yet,not high on my must see list.

A "Hell, yes!", 15 years late. Hanks, who is by all accounts one of the nicest people in Hollywood, is the acting equivalent of pablum.

I’ve really never understood why so many people love Johnny Depp. He was always liked by some and I think that his Jack Sparrow role really catapulted him over the top for some people. I’ve always thought he was kind of bland and don’t really like most of the films he’s in. Actually one of his only performances I like is in a film that I don’t think was that popular (Black Mass).

There’s a strange change in acting roles Depp has made since the first PotC. He used to be a heartthrob who would take on romantic and dramatic roles, most of which were actually pretty enjoyable movies. Then after Curse of the Black Pearl, Depp decides that he just liked to play dress-up and started making movies where his character could look as goofy as possible (Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka, Sweeney Todd, Mad Hatter, Barnabus Collins,Tonto, etc.)

Is he really overrated though? He's done a lot of stuff, including writing and producing. But he's not a big box office draw and he doesn't seem to be loved by critics. The only major award nomination he has received was an Emmy nod for being part of a writing ensemble for Da Ali G show back in 2003. And it's not as if he gets coveted roles or anything; maybe the most prestigious thing he's done is playing Steve Wozniak in Jobs. He's not Jonah Hill with his 2 Oscar nominations.

Unless your angle was that merely getting to have a good career makes him overrated enough.

George Clooney

He had maybe 1 or 2 good movies but he is not that entertaining to watch.

Clooney hasn’t had a good film in a while, but I think he has a pretty good track record if you ask me. A lot more that one or two good movies.

Pretty much every actor mentioned in this thread plus every Oscar winner of the last 20 years under the age of 70, except for Christoph Waltz.

He's pretty much evolved into an action only star to which he is still doing an incredible job. He's a great entertainer and I don't really think he pretends to be more than that.
