What movie is this? Should be easy.
 

I was watching the Patriot this afternoon and there's the scene where Mel kills about 20 guys to save his son.

Right then, I flashed to another movie where someone kills a whole mess of people, but he lets one person live and tells them something like, "I want you to live, so you can tell them I'm coming and what happened here."

Or something like that.

I thought about it for an hour before posting and I know in Tombstone, towards the end, Kurt Russell kills a couple guys and then just cuts one guy in the face with his spur and says something very much like what the quote above states.

But I still don't know if that's right, because, in my memory, it's a scene where a lot of people die, and the protagonist lets one really scared guy go to report back what happened.

Can anyone think of another movie besides Tombstone where something like this happened?

Hmm, that's very similar to the Tombstone one, because not a lot of people get killed in that diner.

I wonder if my mind is confusing different movies, because I keep thinking a lot of people get killed, almost in a Rambo-like way, with one guy taking out a lot of other guys, and then letting one go.

It almost seems like a Tarantino picture, but it's not Kill Bill 1 either. When Uma rolls the lady down to the hospital to tell Bill what happened.

Crap. Thanks for the attempt. I sure remember that scene, but I'm just not convinced that's the one.

I haven't seen Young Guns or The Limey.

They way I remember it, the character looks at the person who thinks they're gonna die and tells them to "GO" and the person gets up and runs away really fast.

This sounds really familiar. I know I've seen this movie you're talking about but I can't think of what it is. I probably own it. Heh. The movies suggested don't sound right (and I haven't seen The Limey or Natural Born Killers all the way through). I did think of Kill Bill, Vol. 1 when I first read through it though. But I don't think that's it. Anybody have any other suggestions?

Not that it helps, but I love that scene in "The Patriot."

Extremely well done and believable.

Though I'm fairly certain it's not what you're referring to, there's a somewhat similar scene in "The Usual Suspects."

Honestly, this scene is in a BUNCH of movies.

I believe the scene is the last gunfight in Unforgiven at the bar.

Didn't that also happen in Desperado or OUATIM after he shot up the bar?

Happens in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. I'll have to think of some more.

Based on the wording, that was the first thing I thought of.

I was going to toss this into spoiler tags, but I don't really care to. It's not much of a spoiler. However, if anyone reading this hasn't seen the film, they should consider themselves warned...

The scene I was referring to is a flashback sequence that plays out as Spacey explains one of the more chilling legends told about Keyser Soze. Here's a transcript of what Spacey says during that scene...

"He's supposed to be Turkish. Some say his father was German. Nobody ever believed he was real. Nobody ever knew him or saw anybody that ever worked directly for him. But to hear Kobayashi tell it, anybody could have worked for Soze. You never knew; that was his power. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. One story the guys told me, the story I believe, was from his days in Turkey. There was a gang of Hungarians that wanted their own mob. They realized that to be in power, you didn't need guns or money or even numbers. You just needed the will to do what the other guy wouldn't. After a while, they come into power and then they come after Soze. He was small-time then, just running dope, they say. They come to his home in the afternoon, looking for his business. They find his wife and kids in the house and decide to wait for Soze. He comes home to find his wife raped and children screaming. The Hungarians knew Soze was tough, not to be trifled with, so they let him know they meant business. They tell him they want his territory, all his business. Soze looks over the faces of his family. Then he showed these men of will what will really was. He tells him he would rather see his family dead than live another day after this. He lets the last Hungarian go, waits until his wife and kids are in the ground, and then he goes after the rest of the mob. He kills their kids. He kills their wives. He kills their parents and their parents' friends. He burns down the houses they live in, the stores they work in. He kills people that owe them money. And like that, he's gone. Underground. Nobody's ever seen him since. He becomes a myth, a spook story that criminals tell their kids at night. 'Rat on your pop and Keyser Soze will get you.' But no one ever really believes."
