Anyone else dislike movies with cheering at the end?

Such as when a group of people are waiting in a room hoping to hear some good news, and when they do they start cheering.Which is supposed to make us feel all giddy with them.(Air force One,etc)

The wide shot of everyone in mission control erupting in celebration in Apollo 13 is another great moment.

I thought this thread was going to be about the viewers in the theater cheering at the end of the film.

False advertisement, I'm going to sue!

Yeah, the thread title does say "...cheering at the end"! And actually, as far as THAT goes, I absolutely LOVE when a movie is soooo damned good that people feel the need to cheer/clap as the credits begin to roll...it's exhilerating to feel a room full of people united in pleasure (hey, git yer mind out of the gutter...this ain't Adult Talk, LOL...).

If it makes sense and is done well, then sure it's fine. If it's cheesy like in the end of Godzilla, then it blows. Gotta take that one on a case by case basis.

It's better than watching a bunch of people sobbing uncontrollably, or watching the cast fall asleep, or ... , or .....

Nope, no problem with cheering.

I was refering to the Godzilla,Independence day type films moreso than serious films such as Apollo 13.

Whenever it's a room of military people cheering, Kurtwood Smith will be there.

What makes the scenario in movies like Godzilla, Armageddon, etc., any different than those in movies like Apollo 13? The setup is the same, and for the same reasons, just the particular circumstances are different.

Do you expect a buch of people to stand around and go, "Ho-hum. Oh well, the big lizard's dead. Wanna go have a Bud light?"

what do i think? well, let's see. just like everyone else on the planet, i like things that are great. and i hate things that suck. but because most films fall somewhere inbetween, i would be doing myself a disservice adhering to absolutes.
