That movie scared me as a kid hehe. The wheelers especially and Mombi and the different heads. I wouldn't mind watching it again though to see what I think about it now. It's been a looong time.

I hate those McFarlane Oz figures. Granted, the books were darker than the original movie, but making them all Spawn & Bondage just came off as a stupid idea to me. *shrug*

I'm pretty much with Xander. I'm not crazy about the McFarlane figures, either. They're too adult and too dark even for the original Oz books. It seems more like some type of warped fan art instead of any kind of adaptation. The Alice figures that they made based on the McGee's version are pretty neat, and seem to fit it ok for Alice as an adult returning to Wonderland, but the Oz versions are a little disturbing. There still has to be a kind of childlike quality to anything associated with Oz, and these definately don't have it.

Here's a bit of trivia for you: Jean Marsh who played Mombi in Return to Oz was in the movie Willow with Joanne Whalley (they played mother and daughter). Whalley also starred in the contraversial sequel to the "other" 1939 movie, Gone with the Wind. She played Scarlett herself, in the tv miniseries of the same name.

I remember seeing this in theaters and being somewhat scared but at the same time really enjoying it. I know I saw it when it came out on the Disney Channel (back when it was a pay channel) too, but I doubt I've seen it since then. That trailer does make it look cheesy but man I remember those wheelers. I read several of the Oz books as a kid and remember thinking that movie was pretty close to the feel some of those had.
