Old movie posters that would be edited or not used at all today
 

In another thread, I was curious about this poster:

With the sky scrapper in the back ground crumbling and the debris flying out in grey clouds, it really reminds me of the WTC. Not that I think this poster should never see the light of day again, but I am willing to bet that some PC people at the studio would not allow this poster to be used or would edit it in some way if this was put out on DVD.

And the classic Jaws poster has been changed over the years as well, with the swimmer getting breast reduction/removal surgery over the years.

Are there any other posters from the previous decades that would not be allowed in their original form for whatever reason? I am curious to see examples that are actual, or classic posters that MIGHT be changed if the stuidos the title on DVD.

This one would not make a go of it today. As for "why are they fighting on the WTC when it's not in the film?" - the movie was released in the U.S. about the time of the first King Kong remake, so they ripped off that film's poster.

Erasing the past, pretending it never happened (or changing it to benefit yourself), just to be 'politically correct' is doing us more harm than good. It was the policy Adolp Hitler adopted, and look where that got us. That being said, remember the controversy over this album cover?

Can't say that I do! But I do remember the hysteria that surrounded the post 9/11 days. The pulling of the Spider Man trailer (that has still, AFAIK, never been put on an official Spider Man DVD) and I even remember a DVD of Danger Mouse (in the UK) that was pulled because it showed Danger Mouse and his sidekick running out a building that was blowing up.

Of course, nobody is saying that they would edit those aforementioned posters these days, they just might though, depending on the studio.

I find those movie titles hilarious. They are so absurd and offensive that i have to laugh.

Although, if you remove the "er" and replace it with the currently spelled "a" at the end does it somehow become less offensive?

Speaking of the WTC (and taking this thread further off topic) there was a DJ group where I went to school known as DJ I am the World Trade Center. Yeah, they changed their name right after 9/11.

Those N-Word film posters themselves aren't the least bit offensive, just the title of the film. If they were The Legend of Black Charly or Boss Black Man then the posters would have nothing offensive about it. The WTC posters would probally be OK now, we are in the "preserve the history" stage of this tragedy, just look at Pearl Harbor and all those ships, I bet Micheal Bay Jr will make a crappy WTC movie in 50 years complete with plane crashing poster. I bet alot of the 70s slaezy horror flicks have some posters thad wouldn't be allowed today, just look at how the MPAA reacted to that MAY postar a year or so ago

Wow, as a fan of blaxploitation, I am shocked that I never heard of those films. I wonder if some mom & pop places might have those available.

I want that poster for my home theater. I am laughing so hard I have tears. Not the poster, but the "he ain't running no more". Oh is that good!

Kind of the opposite. But I remember the James Bond For Your Eyes Only poster had controversy when it came out. Some papers printed shorts on her.

I don't think they've ever been officially released. I googled the title and the first listing came up a listing for a copy of it, though.

i remember reading that Once Upon A Time In Mexico had some posters rejected because Depp was holding like 9 guns....don't know if the pic ever surfaced anywhere though

I'll never forget the parody verison of that used for one of the "Monkey Island" games. One with the girl (Guybrush's wife?) between his legs aiming a musket :lol:
