What's your favorite Al Pacino performance?

I'm starting this after observing the similar Robert DeNiro poll. These aren't all of his performances, obviously, but it's ten of what I think of as his most important ones. And for the sake of fitting in more, I grouped all the Michael Corleone performances as one, though there are a lot of differences in them. I picked Corleone and mostly for his imploding, invertly agonized performance in Godfather II.

Godfather roles, all his other roles seemed to be the same as this one.

10 years - hell, with only a few exceptions, most of what he's done in the past 25 years have been loud, over-the-top performances.

The '70s were his real heyday - since then, he's mostly been a caricature of himself.

well, I was going to say 25 years, but I thought I'd get trounced all over. I'm in total agreement with you.

I went with SCARFACE and no I'm not a gangsta rappa. Also wanted to comment that I like his older stuff for his great acting, and I like his new stuff for his overacting (comedy gold!!!): " Cuz she's got a GREAT @SS. And you've got your head, ALL THE WAY UP IT!"

Tony Montana

My favorite recent (last 15 years) role of his was Tony D'Amato in Any Given Sunday.

He was barely average in Heat. He looked bored as hell in it as well.

2005-1995=10 years

It's called a ballpark guess. Also, I thought he just did the same acting job in it as he's done in several movies in recent years. But that's just my opinion.

godfather and scarface are going to get the most votes.......

but i voted for Donnie Brasco. I loved his performance in that movie, and it is probably the only really good performance of his in the last 20 years.

that's right, I hated Heat.

The Godfather
The Godfather II
Not III, by that time his "acting" was godawful.

Sea of Love was his last great performance. I know a lot of folks shoot loads in their jeans because of his first scene with DeNiro in Heat, but I thought it was a bad performance in a middling movie.

Vincent Hanna. Not his best, but my favorite. "Gimme all ya got!" "Ya get killed walkin' ya doggie!" "Cuz she's got a GREAT ASS!" "Don't waste my muthafuckin' time!" "What are you? A fucking owl?" And perhaps my favorite: "Ya know, you can ball my wife if she wants you to. You can lounge around here on her sofa, in her ex-husband's dead-tech, post-modernistic bullshit house if you want to. But you do not get to watch my fucking television set!!!"

Over-the-top caricature or not, that's gold.

Well this a vote for your favorite and the public's opinion is Heatb being the 3rd highest in votes edging out Scent of a Woman in which he won an oscar in.
