The Sequels are COMING...

This is the real thing, this is not a drilll...... this is the real thing

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sony Pictures is pushing ahead with the sequels I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER 3, HOLLOW MAN 2, and ROAD HOUSE 2. It has not been determined yet whether Columbia Pictures or Screen gems will release them theatrically or whether any or all will go directly to video.

Michael Weiss is writing SUMMER 3. The story will center on a group of teenagers who believe they accidentally killed a man only to discover that the would-be victim is now out to kill them. Neal Moritz and Erik Feig will produce. None of the original cast will return.

Claudio Fah is directing HOLLOW MAN 2 from a script by Joel Soisson. The story revolves around a Seattle detective and a biologist who are on the run from a dangerous invisible assassin gone rogue as well as the government forces that created him.

And Scott Ziehl will direct ROAD HOUSE 2. The film will start where the original left off and will once again be about a tough bouncer hired to tame a rowdy bar.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
someone.... tell me this is a joke...... whyyyyy

Matthew Chmiel 07-12-05 03:05 PM

All three give off the disgusting stench of straight-to-video.

Out of the 3 movies listed, I'm more upset that they are thinking of actually making a sequel out of Road House. This is my guilty pleasure movie. So bad, that is actually good.

We already had a part 2 for I know what you did last summer so news that they are making a third one is not that surprising.

Don't really care about Hollow Man.

Charlie Goose 07-12-05 03:08 PM

Road House is a classic that left no questions to be answered by a sequel!

i think you mean rehash.

otherwise, i'm going to spend the next year writing a sequel to the lord of the rings, wherein a ring of evil and ultimate power is found, causing the formation of a group of nine to aid in the destruction of this ring in the fiery volcano from whence it came. i shall call it lord of the rings 2: it didn't melt.

In a related story, Sony Pictures is complaining that movie attendance is slipping. With quality titles like this in the pipeline, I blame Internet piracy.

It'll get worse before it gets better.

Hey, we just like raping the MGM catalogue since, y'know.. we can. :D

Joe Molotov 07-12-05 05:18 PM

I think what they really need to make is a Road House: Christmas Special. It'll be the Swaziest Christmas ever!

riley_dude 07-12-05 05:29 PM

To think that the guy or gal who greenlit these movies actually gets paid.
I'm sure he is laughing at his desk as we speak.

mdc3000 07-12-05 05:31 PM

who are they kidding? I'm willing to bet Hollow Man 2 and Road House 2 are direct to video...but I Know What You Did 3 sounds like a theatrical release to me...if Neal Moritz is producing, I doubt they'd dump that to video...

Just give Road House the SE treatment and fans will be satisfied. No need for a sequel. Sheesh.

BuddyRevell 07-12-05 06:39 PM

Wow, is The Swayze gonna be in this one? If so he better show us some more trachea ripping action!

We should get a Dirty Dancing sequel too, not this "Havana Nights" crap a real sequel co-starring Jean Claude Van Damme. Something like this...

Or not.

NitroJMS 07-12-05 07:42 PM

From the studio that greenlit Anacondas and Baby Geniuses 2, do you expect any less?

Terrell 07-12-05 08:37 PM

Ditto! Hollywood has no soul.

Hello, Sony!

I Know What You Did Last Summer - 72 million
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer - 40 million

and.....

Road House - 30 million

and.....

Hollow Man - 73 million(budget 130 million)

Nitro put it best though. You can expect nothing better from these folks.

The supposed "plots" of these upcoming sequels:

Hollow Man 2 revolves around a Seattle detective and a biologist who are on the run from a dangerous invisible assassin gone rogue as well as the government forces that created him. A mid-August start date is scheduled, with Swiss director Claudio Feah at the helm. The 2000 original starred Kevin Bacon who turns invisible and goes mad.

I Know What You Did Last Summer 3 focuses on new characters who didn't appear in the first two movies, which came out in 1997 and 1998. It revolves around four teens in a Colorado town who are menaced by an assailant a year after a Fourth of July prank turns deadly. A director is expected to be announced shortly, and a late-summer shoot in Utah is planned.

Road House 2 centers on a graduate student who must run his uncle's bar and fight to maintain control as a local crime boss tries to take it over. Johnathon Schaech has an offer to star, and Scott Ziehl (Cruel Intentions 3) is in negotiations to direct. An August shoot is being eyed.

mgm was planning a direct to video sequel to road house for awhile.
They also are planning a sequel to war games.

Just Lurking 07-12-05 09:49 PM

Has it been almost 10 years for IKWYDLS. They need to get right on the 2nd sequel for the super duper 10th anniversary tie-in DVD (now improved with an insert). ;)

LorenzoL - I have caught Roadhouse a couple times on HDNet. Somehow I suckered int o watching the rest of it from wherever I tune in.

Just Lurking 07-12-05 09:54 PM

We need Sixteen Candles and Breakfast Club sequels.

dyerjp 07-12-05 10:22 PM

The plot from the first one however will return

Dr. DVD 07-13-05 08:17 AM

Straight to video city.

Didn't know Hollow Man cost that much to make. I thought it was more in the $90 million range.

Charlie Goose 07-13-05 08:21 AM

To be fair, Schaech doesn't have time to actually read scripts since he's banging Christina Applegate.

mifuneral 07-13-05 11:41 AM

I Know 3 and Roadhouse 2 sound more like remakes than sequels.

Hollow Man was such a horrible film to begin with, why even tackle a sequel? What they should have done is made Hollow Man into a videogame, and then Uwe Boll could make a movie out of it, which would up the suck factor. Maybe then it would be so bad it's good which is the only hope this film has for any enjoyment.
