The Adventures Of Milo And Otis
one of my favorite films growing up. I'd kill to find my old VHS copy lying around my room some place.
ANyone else a fan? Most of my friends around my age, 19, have either never heard of it or really didn't like it. I can't be the only who loves it can I? |
I remember this movie. Recently I was reading some stuff online saying that since the movie was filmed elsewhere (I think Japan, or somewhere like that), the animals weren't treated very well, and they went through a few Milos & Otis', because the previous ones had...um....been killed during filming.
If true, it seriously ruins any enjoyment I could have again for the film. Hopefully it's not true. But there is a scene in the film where a cat leaps off a cliff into a river...Strangely, I think I remember it looking like the cat was thrown off the cliff. And when it's thrown off a cliff...into a river...I don't see how that could end well for the cat. It's been a long time since i've seen it, so hopefully i'm wrong. |
This was the first movie I saw at the theatre when I was a kid. I didn't know that it was actually made in Japan until I read this thread though. It seems as if we got a shorter version here in the U.S. also. According to imdb.com, the Japanese version was 90 minutes and the U.S. version was only 76 minutes. Fourteen minutes is a good chunk of film. I wonder what was taken out?

It was one of my favorites as a child too.

Gee, I just saw this exact same thread on the View Askew board. :D

I believe the narration was done by Dudley Moore. It's been awhile since I watched this movie.
