Despite having warp speed light ships, lasers, and high AI mechanically sophisticated robotics and bionics, it looks like they forgot to invent a few things:

1) Railings
2) Safety glass
3) Dentists

Anything else?

Toilets.
Bubble gum.

Acting schools.

Sith detector

Beer.

What about the little girl that is hanging around with Anakin in TPM and the other little kids, including Little Greedo? She clearly has braces. Maybe she was a slave to a dentist?

I thought the lack of railings/glass was kind of funny, especially in Padme's apartment. She's a senator, right? Dooku and numerous others have tried to kill her in the past, right? Yet her apartment is open-air with a landing pad and/or balcony that anyone could simply walk onto.
