Question about the line to see Ep III

I have given up on seeing a new movie when it is released because I can no longer deal with the large crowds or the people who can't follow common courtesy. There are a few movies I will see after or around the third week of it's release (Incredibles was the most recent) but typically I buy/rent the dvd or go to the $1 showing.

However, I really want to see this movie. I have some co-workers who went on Friday who said the theaters were packed for the two or three times they have went to see the show. Yet my sister went last night around 7pm and said there were only about 50 people total when she went. The crowd has been mixed. It's 50/50 on those who were into the movie and those who were disruptive during the movie.

What time of the day or movie theater would you recommend? Early morning/first showing? Mall vs. Multi-screen? I'm looking for the best time to go with the least amount of people there.

Earliest showing on a tuesday. Theater or Multiplex, probably won't matter.

For a movie like this, it isn't worth it. If you really want the least number of people possible, you'll end up going to the dumpiest theatre around you. Quite frankly, any distraction that involves other people will be nothing compared to the loss in quality you'll get.

It's worth it, if you have a digital projector showing ROTS near you, to just hope for the best and see it on a digital screen and go as early as possible on a Monday morning or something along those lines. Even then, if the one nearest me is any indication, it'll be sold out for every time slot for the next couple of weeks. The difference in quality is that big.

Even if you have to settle for a regular film projector, the sound in this film is worth going to the newest theatre around you with the best sound system. Revenge of the Sith is an experience that's worth the hassle.

I went to a theatre that was sold out on Friday night, and even though I had way too many teen-age girls in front of me, when the movie started, everyone shut up and enjoyed the film. Trust me, I'm used to having annoying people disrupt the entire movie even when there are just a handful in the theatre. But it seems like a movie like ROTS, most people are so enraptured by the film that, unlike lesser movies, people just enjoy the film. So go on a weekday morning (Although then you run the risk of mothers who haul their newborn-6 year old children to the film), and take a chance at the highest quality theatre that's near you. It's worth the risk, and chances are there won't be any disruptions so long as school is in session.

Do what I do, wait for a month or month and a half after the release.

My dad hates crowds and noise, but I talked him into seeing Star Wars on the 19th. While the crowd was a bit boiserous before the film started, it was dead quiet afterwards. This is why I convinced him to see it opening day ... on a Thursday, it's mostly the fans seeing it, and they are usually a respectful group once the film gets rolling.

I went yesterday afternoon at 12:30 and the theater was damn near empty. It was very nice. I didn't expect that on a Saturday afternoon. Slow? Yes. Dead? no. I say always go to the earliest showing you can. Your particular city/location will have an affect also. Could be different from other areas.

I wouldn't mind waiting a few months, but the advertising blitz has really got me wanting to see the movie. Think I'm gonna try first showing on Wednesday.
