If R2 never payed Luke a visit in ANH...

..would Luke have ever become a Jedi? Would Obi-Wan ever come out of hiding? Obi-Wan shoud've been training Luke to become a Jedi from the get-go. Your thoughts?

In ANH, Luke had a choice between 2 different R2 units. The one he chose broke, so he took R2D2 instead. Destiny all the way

Didnt the novel say that the Red droid blew his own motivator cause he felt sorry for R2 being broken up with 3PO?

I just looked at the novelization, and the R4 unit simply blew it's motivator. Luke even tries to fix it, but it sends sparks everywhere.

An argument starts with Owen and the head Jawa, while other Jawa's start to quickly get the remaining droids back into the crawler. Artoo, using the chaos to his advantage, breaks formation, calls out to Threepio to get noticed by Luke.

I say it's The Force. In the ROTS novelization, Obi Wan says that he'll train Luke in the ways of the Jedi but Yoda says that The Force will reveal the children to them when the time is right. It's actually cool when you think about it because basically, Leia's the one who ends up calling on his brother for help by jettisoning the droids.

btw, I love how Sidious tied up this whole plotline in the film by telling Anakin the legend of Darth Palagius. Great stuff!
