$17 million? I can believe it.

The theater I went to sold out of every showing last night/this early morning (12:01, 12:10, 12:20, 12:30, 12:40, 12:50, 1:00, and 1:10).

All the midnight to 3am shows were sold out at a theatre here and it was on 12 screens. So it may have. I hope so, good for them.

All 16 screens midnight shows were sold out at the theater I went to... plus another 8 just a couple miles away.

I would've been surprised if it hadn't set a record.

I believe that. I was hearing that 30 Screen mutliplexes were showing ROTS on all 30 and sold all 30 out. I can certainly believe $17mil, that's insane! $400mil is gonna happen! The buzz after the screening was amazing, I heard kid's and adults singing the praises of the film. People saying they liked it has much as Empire, etc. People really dug it! Repeat viewings is going to be strong for this one, I know I'll be there quite a bit!
