Ep III at a Drive-In
 

I'm going to see it Thursday at a regular theater, but I'm going to go see it again in a week or two at my closest Drive-In theater that has it, only 3 hours away..... Has anyone seen any of the films at a drive-in and would you see this one there?

I remember seeing The Empire Strikes Back at a Drive-In.

i heard a great story from a guy who saw the original at a drive in.....it was a clear nite, and he said in the space scenes you couldn't tell where the screen stopped and the sky started...

no doubt, sound won't be great, but should be fun nonetheless

Don't most of the drive in's use a radio broadcast to play on your car stereo? While it wouldn't be surround, having a nice system in the car should make it pretty cool. Especially the bass.

I thought declaring that would make me feel cool, but it just made me feel old. :saber:

It depends if you can focus on the movie with all of the rocking cards between you and the screen ... ;)

I saw empire, dont remember much (I think I was 4 or 5). I dont think a drive in would get it since SW requires a 12 week run, and most Drive ins only have 1-2 screens.

It looks like it will be playing at the Galaxy south of Dallas, the Town and Country in Abilene, the Brazos in Granbury, the Stars and Stripes in Lubbock...

Doesn't appear to be a big problem for drive-in theaters to get an engagement.

My earliest movie memory is watching Star Wars (er, A New Hope) at the drive-in, in my PJs in our family's station wagon. It had to have been a rerelease, though, since I was was only 1 and a half years old when it was first released.

I saw the original at a drive-in too. Of course I was <1 so you can continue to feel old.

"Star Wars" was the first film I saw, I saw it at the Sky-Hi Drive-In in Columbia, MO.

I have the good fortune of living within 15-60 minutes of 3 drive-ins so I can guarantee you I will see ROTS at one of them before it's over. My son has never been to one so we want to take him this year.....just gotta make sure to stay away from the back rows ;)

I wouldn't mind watching it at a Drive-In but here is why I don't think I will:

I live in Southwest Missouri and there was the old Webb City Drive-In my Dad would take me to, I loved it. I remember seeing such films as Star Trek IV, Crocodile Dundee, Congo, and a bunch of others I don't remember now. I don't remember anything being bad about the quality of the screen.

They tore that theatre down and built a Wal-Mart in its place. Yeah, sucks.

Now there is another Drive-In that I never went to located in Brooklyn Heights on old route 66 just a few miles away. I saw X-Men 2 at that drive-in to experience a Drive-In again, and it SUCKED. What sucked so bad about it was that even though it was a dark clear night the screen was VERY hard to see. The film had a lot of dark scenes and they just did NOT show up. Are all Drive-Ins like this or does this one have a bad screen?

sadly the drive ins around here now charge as much as the theaters that have DTS and stadium seating
if they still charged like $10 a car load I'd talk some friends into doing it

Episode III is playing at the Drive-In here in Vegas.

Then again, they have five screens (IIRC) and do double features. Case in point, they're still playing Robots and Constantine.

I've never been to a drive in so I was wondering how they charge nowadays? Is it per person or still by car?

There were 3 Drive-Ins near me...(w/in a half-hour) The closest one closed a year or two ago but is soon reopeningw/ new owners also using it as a fleamarket. They all used to have a $5 carload night, but that ended years ago and the last time I went (last summer?) it was like $5 or $6 per person. (Always Double Features)
