Finally... ZORRO 2!!!

No major details, just a blurb in the Life section of today's USA Today about Antonio Banderas speaking to a meeting of critics and that he is set to shoot Zorro 2 (title change, please!) begining in February. Great news for all fans of the first Zorro movie!

I was just thinking that the other day. I was watching Desperado, and thinking damn, he needs to go back to these kinds of movies. I've watched zorro on dvd countless times. The kids movies aren't cutting it.

I'm thrilled by this news! The Mask of Zorro was one of my first DVDs. I've been hoping for a sequel since the first one came out.

Knowing Hollywood's marketing practices, the teaser trailer will probably go something like this: Zorro makes his "Z" across the screen like in the first one and it transforms from a Z into a 2. Any bets?

Well, I know that Antonio has been talking a long, long time about doing another. I hear stories how he makes "Z"s in his butter when he makes toast and that sort of thing - so he's certanly eager for one. I know that KZ-J has said more than once that she's down for another, too.

Frankly - I couldnt be more excited. I've always enjoyed a good swashbuckling swordplay movie - and Mask of Zorro fit the bill nicely.

I don't like the idea...the success of "Mask" cannot be surpassed by a sequel. I'd lave this one alone. Plus, a certain someone couldn't return to star in it.

I had thought Antonio wanted to do less brash Hollywood stuff after flops and Spy KIds, and more grassroots acting - stage, indies, etc.

I'm up for a Zorro 2.

Zorro DOS!

You're one of those "glass half empty" types I guess. How in the world can you say that knowing nothing about what they would do with it?? I could see someone saying the same thing about Toy Story. "What?? They are making a Toy Story 2? That movie will suck. The success of Toy Story cannot be surpassed by a sequel."

Many passed judgement on T3 the same way. And while it probably won't match the box office of T2, most still find it a pretty good movie even without "two certain someones" (JC and LH).

I loved MOZ and am I'm looking forward eagerly to Z2.

How long before someone starts the "Name the Zorro sequel" thread and we are forced to suffer through countless 2Fast 2Furious jokes.

From what I can tell, the sequel will be called Zorro Unmasked.

That info is from the website for screenwriters Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, who wrote the first Zorro film as well as the recent Pirates of the Caribbean

So you're saying that they shouldnt make another Zorro movie ever? That once you achieve perfection that you should just stop the series?

So they should have stopped making them with The Mark of Zorro?

Tyrone Power thanks you for the high praise.

If they can bring back the surviving characters, original cast and crew, and screenwriters, then

The fact that there have been quite a few Zorro movies tells me it would be stupid not to make any more. I don't get you people

Count me in for this one. I like that the tile, Zorro Unmasked, is in keeping with the title to the first but it makes me think of a superhero comic I read a fewyears ago. I just can't remember if it was an issue of Batman or Spider-Man but I'm sure one of those had a title of "Unmasked."

For me, Zorro perfection was achieved in the Disney episode when Ricardo Maltaban pieces together Diego's secret.

Can't wait for the new movie!

The screenwriters of Zorro (I think) recently wrote the script for Pirates OTC, so hopefully Sony will dish out the money for them again.
