Cool Pirate movies I don't know about?
Are there any other good pirate movies out there I don't know about that are worth buying? Besides Pirates of the Caribbean, Diseny's Treasure Island, Swiss Family Robinson.

CutThroat Island is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's cheesy, but fun.
Then of course there's the long sought after but still unavailable on DVD Yellowbeard. I'd also probably classify that as a guilty pleasure too, but seriously, who doesn't love a good rape joke every now and then? And let's not forgot the classics. Two of my favorite pirate movies from yesteryear are The Black Swan and The Crimson Pirate, starring Tyrone Power and Burt Lancaster, respectively. |
Hmmm I will have to check those out, honestly someone needs to make a real depictive movie of Pirates, something grotesque and appalling, something based on how evil and twisted and cunning pirates actually were.

Awesome, thanks.

Go out now & buy this movie.
Its a pirate movie w/ Robert Shaw, Sid Haig, & James Earl Jones. What more could you possibly need in a film. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/07...1.LZZZZZZZ.jpg |
Captain Blood, The Sea Hawk, and Against All Flags are good Errol Flynn ones. And if you want a more comedic version of Against All Flags, check out Doug McClure and Jill St. John in The King's Pirate.

Goonies?

I dont think that it is out on dvd yet - my favorite pirate movie is The Island (1980) starring Michael Caine - from a novel by Peter Benchley
|
The porn star Jesse Jane is putting out the first HDTV adult film, and it's a pirate film with millions of dollars in special effects and sets. One of my more interesting interviews...

There is a little-seen Terence Hill/Bud Spencer vehicle called Blackie the Pirate from the early 70s that you may want to hunt down.

......mutiny on the bounty?

I liked Nate and Hayes starring Tommy Lee Jones.
Unfortunely, Paramount has not released this gem of a pirate film on DVD yet. :( |
I will definitely second The Black Swan.

Kinda suprised there hasn't been a serious Pirate film yet. I mean with Pirates of the Caribbean being a box office success and all.

Third for the Black Swan...great movie

One of my favorites...
One of my favorite "Pirate" movies is Count of Monte Cristo (the 2002 version).
Cast: James Caviezel, Guy Pearce, Dagmara Dominczyk, More Director: Kevin Reynolds Category: Action & Adventure, Drama Running Time: 2 hours 11 minutes Language: English, French DVD Release: 09/10/2002 A classic story by Alexandre Dumas which has been done a thousand times but I really enjoyed this particular version! |
This may be obvious, but how about Master and Commander? It's not exactly pirates, but:
