Has Star Wars helped the careers of...

Hayden Christensen? --no, not yet anyway.

Natalie Portman? --she did land the role in V for Vendetta, but that was probably because of her Oscar nom.

Ewan McGregor? --possibly, but he was still big before Star Wars.

Natalie Portman got the V for Vendetta role before her Oscar nomination, and was a known actor before she started working on Star Wars.

What is the point of this exactly? Are you trying to imply something?

These actors didn't need their careers launched by Star Wars. Hamill, Ford, and Fisher were complete unknowns at the time they starred in Star Wars.

No, I'm not implying anything. I was just trying to do a comparison between the new movies and the old ones. Sure, Natalie and Ewan were well-established actors before The Phantom Menace. Maybe Star Wars will help Hayden along but I don't know. I guess what I'm asking is: was Star Wars a good career move for these actors?

I'd say a Star Wars gig is good for ANY actor. It's probably a decent paycheck and look at the exposure.

The Star Wars films have always been bigger than the actors. Harrison Ford was the only actor to make it big after the original trilogy, but I think that was more due to the Indy films. When Star Wars was at it peak, Carrie Fisher said that Princess Leia was the star, she just looked like her.

They didn't tear up the industry too much with their post-NEW HOPE film choices either.

Big? In the British indie scene... I don't think he hit mainstream/wide appeal till Star Wars

I think Hayden Christensen will benefit the most as the others are already established.

I think SW will get their names out, but they still have to audition. As far as performance, GL isn't known for getting the most drama out of actors.

nightwatch and A Life Less Ordinary were pretty big for him even though they didn't hit box office success.

If I had been lucky enough to be in a prequel I wouldnt care if it was the last movie I ever acted in, in fact I don't even think they woulda had to pay me. I would give up a career for that opportunity. So as to whether Hayden will be successful who cares, he got the chance of a lifetime as far as I'm concerned.

He can always live off the 20 bucks per autograph and touring around conventions if he falls on hard times.
