Just saw that it passed the $150 million mark just from Thursday-Saturday. If it continues with another $50 million on Sunday it'll easily beat the opening weekend record.

I think you must have misread something somewhere. The estimates are that it made $158 million from Thursday through Sunday. The number for Thursday through Saturday is around $124 million.

In the paper on Sunday morning it said the total was up to $150 million, so I don't see how they could have included Sunday's take at 4AM Sunday morning unless they were able to use their powers to see into the future.

Anyway, later today or tomorrow we'll know the actual numbers. Hopefully it'll be around the same as the projection.

it's an estimate, that's all these numbers right now are. They do this every weekend. Sunday's numbers are estimated based on the drop off from Saturday's numbers.

ROTS has tied Spider-Man 2 for quickest to $200 million. They both did it in 8 days but Spder-Man 2 had 202,120,073 and ROTS 200,442,739. The quickest to $300 million is Shrek 2 in 18 days so it looks like ROTS can beat that.

I'm still amazed at Shrek 2's $440 mil box office total. I mean, was it that good?

I've got to agree and I think I'm in the minority on this board who like the Shrek films. They're good, not $440million good but still...

I like it as well, but I think the bulk of the money on this one came from repeat business by the kiddies. I work with a guy that has a 4 year old, and he says she has to watch Shrek everyday on DVD, she has moved on to Shrek 2 now, but everyday she watches it.

Right now it's 12 day total is $271M.

In my estimation, it'll take about 3 days for the movie to break $300M, the standing record is Shrek 2 at 18 days.

That's $10 million/day. I don't think it'll be able to do that. You're probably looking at 4-5 days.

I think that with school out and kids looking for something to do, I'd say that it might do it, but as long its not 6 days it'll be cool with me. I'd like to see it top Shrek 2 record.

I'll attempt to help you by seeing it again with a friend or two this week.

Ain't gonna help... the top three are averaging $3.5M a day this week... at 15 days it's only at $282M.

If the weekend is good (the only new big movie this week is Cinderella Man), it just might tie Shrek 2's record.

I'll say it breaks the record on Saturday, making 300 million in 17 days.

We have a winner!

$300.7M in 17 days (estimated).

The next goal... $400M by June 30th. That's an average of $3.6M a day.

ROTS will not hit the $400 mil mark. Maybe SM2 or ROTK numbers.

I've been saying that all along. My original prediction was around 375 million.

I believe it will hit the $400 million mark..... remember there is still going to be a spike in all movie totals once schools are over...

...and ROTS will receive a little boost from a "lets go see a SW flick one last time, they will never be on the big screen again" type ticket sales...

Well, we're now 30 days into its run and its sitting at $340M. With 12 days left, I doubt that it will get anywhere close to $400M by then... if ever.

It will end up around 400 million but it won't do it by the 30th. Shrek was one of the few real kids movies out at that time. Star Wars and Batman have the same audience.
