I thought Tears For Fears 'Head Over Heels' worked really well in Donnie Darko (as did all of the music in that film).

I don't know about favorite, but one of the best needle drops last year was Steve Zissou's pirate revenge sequence set to the Stooges' "Search and Destroy."

ELO's "Showdown" in KINGPIN during the bowling scene towards the end of the movie.

Ray Charles' "Mess Around" while John Candy is driving and Steve Martin is sleeping in PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES.

Damien Rice's "The Blower's Daughter" at the beginning and end of CLOSER.

Some good ones mentioned so far... one of my favorites and most memorable is "The Eye of the Tiger" from Rocky III. As a kid that always got me pumped up.

I'll second "Head Over Heels" from Donnie Darko and add Malcolm McLaren's (sp?) "About Her" in Kill Bill Vol. 2.

P.S. I want to see Garden State now just knowing Coldplay's Don't Panic is in it.

This is coming from someone who used to sing metal. I have always loved "To Sir With Love" by Lulu.
