Need help identifying some music in both Heat and Collateral
Okay, if you think this belongs in the music thread please move it.
I love both of these movies and think that viewed together they almost form a single narrative about crime and nightlife in Los Angeles. Two particular music pieces stand out in the films. One is in heat when Pacino is chasing DeNiro before they go meet in the diner. The other is in Collateral when Mark Ruffalo is inspecting the apartment of the man Tom Cruise whacked. I might buy the Collateral ST anyway, as a lot of the music in it is good and I am curious if they have the jazz bit played in the club as well. Thanks for any help! |
The Collateral piece is Tom Rothrock's "Hands of Time." The Heat piece is Moby's "New Dawn Fades."
The Collateral soundtrack is great, and does include the cutdown version of the jazz piece (Spanish Key by Miles Davis). |
Heat used several pieces by Moby. I think the end music is "God Moving Over the Face of Water."
Does Collateral have Hands of Time on it? I guess it does. |
Yeah, it does have Hands of Time. Amazon should have the listing of all the tracks on the soundtrack CD.

Cool. Thanks!

The Moby version in HEAT is edited on the soundtrack so if you want the complete version, it's on his CD single "Feeling So Real" and "I Like To Score" CD (collection of his music used in films). |
Moby is briefly interviewed on the bonus features of the new Heat SE.

Both excellent soundtracks -- I've been listending to Collateral in my car for the past week or so.
