Wow, may need to give this a watch. Saw it did basically nothing at the theaters over the weekend but looks more geared towards streaming.

I had a lot of fun with this one. I love Hamm, so admittedly I'm biased. It may not be a laugh-a-minute gutbuster, but I had a smile on my face for 90 minutes. And then it was over. No fuss, no muss. A trifle for sure, but an R rated comedy that doesn't rely on over the top violence or vulgarities is something we just don't see very much at the movies anymore.

Jon Hamm and the director gave up a portion of their salaries to help pay for 3 extra days of shooting.

As “Confess, Fletch” accumulates positive reviews, Mottola confirmed a sequel is in the works, adapting novel “Fletch’s Fortune,” which takes place at a journalism conference. “I’ve got lots of ideas [for] how to bring that into all the insane worlds of today,” he said.

I am actually enjoying his Progressive commercials for some reason and am softening on him a bit. I will check this out sometime.

I’m a big Hamm and was really excited to see this, but it did absolutely nothing for me. Maybe wrong place, wrong time. Just felt like a chore.

I caught this last Sunday afternoon and really enjoyed it. Laughed quite a bit at the funny bits, liked the sprawling number of characters and thought it was great when they all showed up in the same room for a thousand reasons! I love Fletch and I'd watch one of these a year forever. I'm like that with a lot of "dark humor" crime movies. I could watch endless sequels with the characters from Fletch, Get Shorty, Out of Sight, A Simple Favor, Knives Out, and so on all day long.

This is already gone from my local AMC, but they still have screenings of Bullet Train and Top Gun: Maverick. It's too bad, thus is a good movie.

I was a little underwhelmed by this.
It was good it is a good movie but it felt small. Was filmed during covid and it shows.
Didn’t like the switch from Flynn to Morris Monroe.
Flynn was a really good clever funny Inspector. MM was a generic uninteresting cop.
The poster is misleading. Don’t know why the Coliseum is on there.
Anyway. Good but not great.

I thought this was great! Jon Hamm nails this role. I wasn’t expecting a masterpiece. I was hoping Fletch would be a smart-ass being a smart-ass and I got that throughout the whole movie. Nothing laugh out loud funny but I did chuckle at almost every joke. The movie also threw in a couple solid red herrings that kept my interest without hitting me over the head with stupid plot points.
I also really appreciated that Fletch wasn’t a know-it-all who solved the case without breaking a sweat. He was a good investigative journalist who had several solid theories and none of them turned out to be correct. It was a nice change of pace from movies where main character makes no mistakes and easily puts the pieces together.
I would totally watch more Fletch movies with Hamm. I don’t even care what the stories are. Just have Hamm as Fletch and I’ll be there!
Also thank God for no stupid costumes like the Chevy Chase Fletch movies.

A Blu-ray has been announced for release on April 4th.
I saw Mottola mentioned he's started writing the adaption of Fletch's Fortune... now he just needs to get the production companies to let him make it.
