3 Questions about the Oscars

Why was The Terminator theme song playing in the background?
Why was Puff Daddy (yes, for a wretch like that counts more than enough for his real name) laughing like a hoodrat when the whole audience wanted his juvenile hijinks to stop?
Was Adam Sandler's bit with Chris Rock saying Catherine Zeta's lines supposed to be at all funny?

FinkPish 02-28-05 09:41 PM

Don't know.
You'll have to ask him.
I hope not.

I have my own question: what was wrong with the dozen other Oscar threads already around?

Brent L 02-28-05 09:46 PM

They smell like roast beef and cheese, THAT'S what.

They also played the theme to Stark Trek: TNG at some point during the evening before a commercial break. I don't know what was going on.

You mean Star Trek: The Motion Picture. It was a nod to Jerry Goldsmith, who passed away last year. Themes from The Magnificent Seven (Elmer Bernstein) and Laura (David Raksin) could also be heard. Those two composers also passed away in 2004.

Bill Conti often uses a lot of well known movie themes during the Oscar shows.

I don't mean that unless the theme to TNG is identical to that of Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

1. because the music cord. wanted to play it and it does sound epic.
2. P-diddy was a waste of space
3. yes, they used to do those sort of bits all the time. usually they work.

It was. They reused the theme from TMP as the theme for TNG.

Good catch.

In regards to question 2, more importantly, why was P.Diddy invited in the first place?

Well he's good friends with Chris Rock...and actually designed Rock's suit that he wore at the awards - no joke!
