You will not believe what the #1 movie in America at the Box Office this weekend is..
From www.showbizdata.com's Friday #'s (usually about as reliable as BoxOfficeMojo's)
1. DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN 7.1 7.1
2. HITCH 6.2 107.2
3. CURSED 3.8 3.8
4. CONSTANTINE 3.7 42.6
5. MAN OF THE HOUSE 3.1 3.1
6. MILLION DOLLAR BABY 2.0 59.5
7. BECAUSE OF WINN-DIXIE 1.9 17.3
8. ARE WE THERE YET? 1.1 73.4
9. AVIATOR, THE 1.0 91.7
10. SIDEWAYS 1.0 60.6
Seriously, "Diary Of A Mad Black Woman"? I've hardly even HEARD of this movie. Obviously someone has, though. With all the teenybopper horror flicks lately doing so well, I would've definitely picked "Cursed" to take it. Unless these numbers change a lot for the weekend and "Hitch" inches back up to #1, this is one of the more suprising b.o. weekends in a while...

Must be about the woman from the pizza place assault video. Rated R for spitting and large boyfriend brutality.

It looks absolutely bizarre. I can't wait to see it.

Diary of a Mad Black Woman will be #1, no doubt about it. It appeals to the urban crowd and has a PG-13. All the flick's negatives reviews be damned.
I'm not shocked at Cursed making $4 million, but I'm shocked that Man of the House didn't do more. I thought Tommy Lee Jones and Cedric the Entertainer would be a winning combo for audiences to enjoy everywhere.
Constantine took a huge, nasty fall. Thank God.
Million Dollar Baby and Sideways passing the $60 million barrier?

Wow. Little advertising, and bad reviews. But probably a pretty damn good opening. Go figure. And these commercials comfused the hell out of me. I couldn't figure out what the hell the movie was about, and the grandma character who's played by a man just confounded me.

Hm..
Million Dollar Baby - 59.5 million dollars
Sideways - 60.6 million dollars
Are We There Yet? - 73.4 million dollars
I disliked Million Dollar Baby, and Sideways is an independent film, but still..it always shocks me to see peoples' priorities when going out to the theater.

Nothing shocking about it, Are We There Yet? just appeals to a much, much broader audience than the other two.
Sideways clearing 60 million is incredible.

I think this movie looks stupid. Half the commercials try to make it a comedy, the other half show it as a drama. I saw a trailer for it in front the The Wedding Date (okay, not great) & it's about some woman who (I guess got divorced or dumped or something) & now hates men, even the good looking guy in the movie (who, I think, is a singer). Yeah, the cross dressing character (who I guess isn't supposed to be cross dressing in the movie) also seems really strange & off putting to me. I'll never watch that. I wanna see Cursed & Million Dollar Baby. I liked Constantine, which I guess puts me in the minority going by reviews.
