What's even harder to believe is that it's not because of studio tinkering. They more or less re-shot the whole movie after their original version was allegedly less than stellar. Guess you can't capture lightening in a bottle twice. :( |

I KID, calm down... And yes, Scott Baio is still in it. His role has been written out, but he's there. |
If all of the reviews are true and this movie is dreadful, then the only person that I will feel bad for is Christina Ricci.

Arrow is good, but Joblo.com sucks. :)

Dang... when Arrow downs it, it's gotta be BAD!

Oh man. Now I can't wait to see this film in two hours...
If it's anything like all the other 2005 films I have seen this year, such as... Boogeyman Constantine Cube Zero White Noise Who's Your Daddy? ...than this film is simply going to suck. |
What's worse is arrow dogged the R version! Guess that can tame the old "this movie would have rocked if it were rated R" camp.
Honestly, do studios even believe in putting out some quality movies during the January/Ferbruary months? (By quality I mean thoughtful and fun, not mindless and superfluous.) |
|
Man, at this rate, I'm surprised Wes Craven didn't go the Alan Smithee route.
|
I agree Geoff. At least with the Smithee credit he could give the impression that it wasn't his doing.
|
Is Wes Craven even trying anymore? I just saw Cursed and I'm not sure whether to blame him, Williamson, or Dimension. The movie played out like a Halloween episode of Dawson's Creek, and the CGI werewolf was laughable. At least Ricci and Mya provided some eye candy.
|
Wow. The movie was bad, but I found it to be laughable bad.
Craig Kilborne having a television show? Scott Baio getting pissed off that he got bumped by Carrot Top? Werewolves giving people the middle finger? Werewolves just picking people up out of midair? Werewolves outsmarting humans by scratching up cars and taking the flight of stairs? Homosexual insults directed at people while the writer is in fact gay himself? Even I couldn't come up with this stuff. While 2005's other horror films Boogeyman, Constantine, and White Noise were simply fucking terrible; at least Cursed was a piece of shit I could watch and laugh at. Did I want to commit suicide during this movie like I did during the former three? No. Now Cursed is a terrible movie by all means with no redeeming qualities whatsoever, but it's a train wreck that is fascinating to watch. One can easily tell what was from the original version of the film (the non-CGI werewolf) and what was completely reshot (the CGI werewolf) along with noticing what was editied to get the film the profitable PG-13 rating (from deaths now taking place off screen and out of frame to sound effect changes). I seriously hope that Dimension puts the original version along with the uncut version of this theatrical cut on DVD. My friend and I haven't laughed so hard unintentionally from a movie in a while. Way to go Dimension. |

I kept hoping that Craig Kilborn was the main werewolf. Now THAT would've been a twist.
I also loved the line "I lost Craig. I LOST CRAIG!" |

I was a huge fan of scream, and I avoided all the trailers and bad press. I like to go in with no expectations either way. This film was no scream, but its nowhere near as bad as some will lead you to believe. If you liked scream you will like this. The Same type of humor and the same type of jump at you scares. I watched with a packed house and there were plenty of screams. Some of the effects were pretty bad, but that can be said about most films lately. To the person who said it plays out like a holloween episode of Dawson's creek, that is the point, its the same writer. If you like Craven and Williamson you will enjoy this, if you don't like their stuff why would this be different? Don't go see this "teen horror/comedy" if you want Pyscho, Dawn of the Dead, etc. look elsewhere.

"If you like Craven and Williamson you will enjoy this...." I enjoyed the Scream movies and own them on dvd, so this blanket statement is far from true. That being said, I think people, who want to see Cursed, should see the movie and form their own opinion. Was it the worst movie I've seen this year? No. Is it a good movie? In my opinion no. |
I don't blame Craven, I blame Demension. Craven should go independent again.
