Wong Kar-Wai's 2046- to be released in the US by Sony Classics?
http://www.twitchfilm.net/archives/2...ssics_p_1.html
According to this article, if you try to go to the website www.2046themovie.com you get redirected to the Sony Classics website (it's true, but there is no actual mention of 2046 on the site yet). Usually, they don't mess up their acquisitions too much, except maybe for ratings reasons (ie. HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS has some slight cuts). It's a hell of a lot better than Miramax getting it. Anyone hear anything about this? |
According to HelloZiyiUS Tony will be in the US in May or June to promote the film.

can't wait to see it
|
I liked it, but I don't know if I'd be able to get anyone to go with me - had a hard enough time getting people to watch it with me at my house.
|
just saw this one on dvd...it had the cannes logos on the front end....I want to see this in theaters like now....
|
its up at the sony pictures classics site http://www.sonyclassics.com/comingso...mid=281&page=3
i also saw it on dvd but would love to see it on the big screen. WKW is my fav director and this would be the first time seeing one of his films in theaters. i'll probably end up going by myself to see this, but that doesn't bother me much |

Miramax can't get it since it doesn't exist.
My complaint is why do they wait so damn long to get these movies here. This was out in Cannes, what? 2 years ago? |

I been wanting to watch this again on dvd but I'm patiently waiting so I can see it on the big screen. I don't think I'm gonna make it though. I'll probably watch it again this weekend as it looks like it's going to be a couple of more months before it opens around here.

So it was finished probably around mid-late Summer '04, and was released in late September 2004. We're getting it in Mid-2005. Not really that long, considering the films lukewarm reception and the likes there of. |
Damnit, any news on this release? Why it takes so long is beyond me, not even a region 1 dvd announcement. . .

Well I did, but it has no release date on the site as far as I can tell. The trailer also has no mention of a release date.
However, I did some searching and Moviefone.com says 08/05/2005 is the release date. While it's probably not official, it's as good an estimate as any. August can't come soon enough! I can't wait. |
It's official. But it's getting released in LA/NYC only on that date. Other cities will come later.
