I'll see an ED remake I guess. I don't remember what I said about it before, but I just don't care if they remake it. It's not gonna ruin anything. Even if they remade it note for note with Matthew Lillard ape-ing and mugging his best Bruce C impression.
As for ED4 - I'll see that too, but I hope they go with the original ending of AOD... otherwise, lame (but I'd still see it).

I have to admit, just the talk alone about this happening has me very excited and I hope it does but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet.

Give me the Post-appocalyptic ending. Give me the S-Mart ending. Give me a third ending I don't know about, I don't care. With Sam Raimi's pull nowadays, I think he could pretty much make ANYTHING he wants. This is his one-way ticket to having a decent budget for an Evil Dead/AOD movie. I don't care what the studio's make him call it. All of the real fans will know what it is the second Ash revs up his chainsaw. If they decide to do a remake instead, well, ok I guess. It just won't be the same without the REAL Ash, his chainsaw, and his BOOMSTICK (crap that's funny). I don't care what anyone says, Bruce Campbell is THE MAN! Here's hoping for a real sequel.

Considering the enormous success of The Grudge and now the solid opening of Boogeyman, plus the enormous pull Raimi has as the director of Spiderman, which, if you didn't know, made shitloads of money, Raimi is not going to have any problem getting a 20 million dollar budget to make ANY type of movie he wants. If he wants double that budget, he'll still probably not have that much of a problem. Ghost House probably has enough in its coffers to finance an Evil Dead 4 and give Raimi complete creative control.

From slashfilm (July 29th):
During Comic-Con this weekend, the chainsaw began sputtering once again for Evil Dead 4. Director Sam Raimi, there promoting his comeback horror film, Drag Me To Hell, announced the return of Bruce Campbell’s Ash to fans…
“I love working with Bruce Campbell… He’s super willing to do anything to make it right. He’s a very funny guy, but mostly he’s got this quality where he will physically do anything to get the shot done right, so I would love to work with Bruce again because I’d love to test those limits.
I’d love to make another Evil Dead picture. And actually that’s in the wheelhouse. I’d like to work on it with my brother Ivan [Raimi] when he comes up next week.“

Sam Raimi writing 'Evil Dead 4'
'Spider-Man' director revisits his horror roots

Hail to the king, baby: Deadite hunter Ash may be back.
Sam Raimi, who created the low-budget "Evil Dead" series of horror films, has told Empire magazine he's working on a fourth movie. While Raimi has often said he'd like to reboot the series with a younger cast, his hope for Bruce Campbell to return as Ash indicates this one may be a true sequel.
The first two "Evil Dead" movies -- the second actually also covers all the events from the first -- follow Ash and some friends as they unleash demonic forces with the evil book Necronomicon Ex Mortis. The third movie finds Ash thrown back to medieval times and fighting the undead there.
"There's some dialogue," Raimi told the magazine. "Ash being an idiot. Ash taking some abuse. Some character stuff and then some structure of Act Two. Just other possibilities for things that could happen. It's ideas, jokes, things we'd like to see."
Raimi's latest, "Drag Me to Hell," premieres May 29.

Like I said in the other thread, that article really doesn't thrill me. Basically Sam Raimi is exactly where he was back before Spider-Man 3 came out. Drag Me To Hell looks awesome but I refuse to believe Evil Dead 4 is being made until the day I'm in the theater watching it.

Like Bruce said, the issue was Sam doing some big Hollywood movies (Spider-Man movies and then Oz) and Bruce doing Burn Notice. Now that Sam is off Spider-Man and Burn Notice is done, perfect time to get things going.
