Of the nominees, what's your pick for Best Picture? If it's something not nominated, please list below.

Weak year, but should make for an interesting night.

Ive seen all of them and I think MDB is the best. Aviator is good, but overhyped IMO.

Still need to see Hotel Rwanda. I have a screener so I may watch it this weekend.

this is easy for me...million dollar baby and finding neverland are the only tow that made my top 10 of the year. million dollar baby takes the honors. oops, sideways was #10 for me.

aviator was good but it was nowhere near the best. however, i could really care less about the subject so that would hurt it for me.

sideway was good, but i felt it was way overhyped. dont get me wrong, i liked it but not award winning stuff in my eyes.

ray=great acting, great story...but i could care less about ever seeing it again and it did not make and impact or leave much of an impression.

Can't vote yet as I've only seen Aviator and MDB, will see either Sideways or Finding Neverland tomorrow. I'll rent Ray sometime, but no way it over takes the others for me.

Between those two, it's Aviator for me. I loved both, but simply enjoyed The Aviator more and loved the cinematography in it.

Just a terrible list of movies this years. Ray & Aviator are a joke that they are listed, two of the most overrated films in recent years.

Million Dollar Baby hands down of the listed movies should win.

Sideways is by far my favorite movie of the ones listed.

Haven't watched any of the five nominees...yet. So I say Eternal Sunshine.

i've seen all the best picture nominees and admire Sideways more than the others.
but the best film i saw this year was...
Vera Drake

runner-ups include Sideways, Brown Bunny, and Undertow.
and the most entertaining films i saw were Shaun of the Dead and Spider-Man 2.
also, i'd love it if Mike Leigh won best director.

Although I liked them all (except Ray, haven't seen it yet), Million Dollar Baby by a laughably wide margin.

The best film of the year was Kill Bill vol. 2, but out of what's nominated, it's The Aviator (although I have yet to see Million Dollar Baby, so that could change).

I had heard Million Dollar was a good film, even heard a few people throw around the "great" word....but I was unprepared, the film really is that good. I've only seen The Aviator and Sideway (and MDB of course) from the list, but MBD is by far the better film. I still have to see the other two, but they'll have to be pretty damn good to get my vote...and if they are that good, then good for me, the viewer.

I loved it, but not nearly as much as most here. It's a distant third behind Aviator and Eternal Sunshine on my 2004 list, and I haven't seen Sideways, Hotel Rwanda, or Finding Neverland yet so it could fall further.

It's a great flick, but was a little slow in places (maybe just because I have little interest in boxing) and, for whatever reason, I wasn't as moved as most by the ending. Maybe because I'm a strong supporter of
Spoiler:
euthanasia and wouldn't want to live like that, and got the whole going out on top thing and that made the ending more bittersweet than depressing/shocking for me.
Thus it wasn't as emotional for me as it seemed to be for others at my showing or others posting about it here.

Same here, really enjoyed it but don't think it's worth the raving praise most here have for it. It was my 4th fav. of 2004, after Kill Bill v.2, Garden State, & Sideways.

I think the reason nobody honestly can say they hate it b/c it is a VERY well made film with 2 phenomenal pieces of acting. I can certainly understand someone not enjoying it, b/c of how depressing it is & some don't have the attention span to sit through a slow movie, but nobody can deny the craft of the film & mostly the performance. I think more than any other Oscar nominated movie in 2004, this is one movie that is most elevated by the performance of the cast. Its a decent story, not the most original IMO but it has to brilliant performances by Eastwood & Swank.

(FIXED)

Million Dollar Baby hands down of the listed movies will win, although I feel the almost orgiastic universal praise it's generating is undeserved.

Sideways is by far my favorite movie of the ones listed.

Voted Something else, in honor of either Closer or Dogville.

I've seen all the major Oscar contenders (although I haven't seen Closer but I guess that wasn't a real contender) and Million Dollar Baby wins in a landslide. That movie drew me in like no other this year.

Aviator was an aesthetically pleasing movie but it didn't draw me in at all. While watching it, I kept looking at my watch to see when the 3 hours were up.

Finding Neverland was a moving story but it wasn't anywhere near MDB.

Sideways was one of the most over-rated movies of the year imho. It was a decent movie but not a 4-star movie to me by any means.

Ray was a good movie but without Jamie Fox, it would've been very average at best.

Hotel Ruwanda was a very very moving film but still not as good as MDB imo.

You forgot one. Maybe the one with the best chance to win an Oscar.
